Huddersfield vs Cardiff Predictions

Huddersfield are in poor form but still finding a way to score. Cardiff’s historical edge in this match up, combined with an incredible run of form and the goal scoring exploits of Kieffer Moore should mean an away win with BTTS.

  • Huddersfield have won 1 of their last 13 matches (all competitions).
  • Huddersfield have scored in 16 of their last 17 home matches (all competitions).
  • Cardiff are unbeaten in their last 14 matches against Huddersfield (all competitions).
  • Cardiff have won their last 3 matches against Huddersfield (Championship).
  • Cardiff have won 7 of the last 8 matches (Championship).
  • Cardiff's Kieffer Moore has scored 5 goals in his last 6 matches (Championship).

Huddersfield have a narrow historical edge over Cardiff, winning 29 and drawing 22 times of the 78 games between the sides. Cardiff have won 27 times.

Cardiff are unbeaten in the last 14 meetings between the two sides, winning 10 in a run that stretches back to 2003.

The last meeting was in December where Kieffer Moore's double and a Robert Glatzel goal gave Cardiff a 3-0 at home to Huddersfield.

Huddersfield Form

Huddersfield sit three places and eight points above the drop zone and are in a terrible run of form with just one win in their last 13 games in all competitions.

They come into the game after of a 1-1 draw at home to Birmingham. Top-scorer Frazier Campbell got his seventh goal of the season quickly cancelled out as Huddersfield stopped their two-game losing streak.

They had come off the back of away defeats to Derby (2-0) and Preston (3-0) and Carlos Corberan will hope the midweek draw can start an upturn in form.

They’ve only lost one of their last four matches at home and only failed to score in one of the last 17 in all competitions at The John Smith’s Stadium.

At the back, Huddersfield haven’t kept a clean sheet in 14 games so goals at both ends should be expected.

Huddersfield Injuries and Team News

The Terriers have an extensive injury list with the likes of defenders Christopher Schindler and Harry Toffolo, midfielders Jonathan Hogg, Carel Eiting and forward Josh Koroma all ruled out for the game.

Carlos Corberan tinkered from a back five to a back four last time out which may see Richard Keogh sit out again this time.

Cardiff Form

Promotion chasing Cardiff are in fine form, unbeaten in 10 including seven wins in the last eight games.
Mick McCarthy’s Bluebirds are flying and will be out to keep their run going. They have picked up 24 out of a possible 30 points since his arrival.

Cardiff's incredible run means they have not conceded more than one goal in a game for the last nine matches, keeping four clean sheets on that run.

A frustrating draw away to Middleborough where a late Boro equaliser cancelled out a Sean Morrison goal was followed up by a return to winning ways last time out.

Cardiff beat a resurgent Derby side comfortably with Leandro Bacuna double, Will Vaulks and in form man Moore securing a 4-0 victory despite McCarthy's side having just 27% possession.

Cardiff Injuries and Team News

Cardiff will be hoping to add the services of defender Jordi Osei-Tutu and forward Lee Tomlin to the squad for this game.

Harry Wilson was left out for the Derby game and may miss out again. Sheyi Ojo replaced him for the midweek win.

Cardiff will be buoyed by Kieffer Moore’s goal scoring exploits, which sees him sit in fifth in the Championship's top goalscorers with 16. Moore has five in six and will be looking to keep his run going.

There’s no reason why Cardiff’s sublime form shouldn’t continue with another win. I expect Huddersfield to keep their goalscoring form up and they should get a goal in another defeat.

Kieffer Moore’s form shouldn’t be ignored, and he can score again.
