Norwich vs Oxford Predictions

Norwich can maintain their decent form with a vital Championship victory at Carrow Road.

A home win is my only tip on Friday.

Stats

  • Norwich won 4 of their last 7 matches
  • Norwich won 3 of their last 5 home matches (Championship)
  • Oxford lost 4 of their last 5 matches
  • Oxford lost 3 of their last 6 away matches

Head to Head

Norwich and Oxford have met on 11 occasions since 1986 but only once in this century. Norwich won six of their 10 previous encounters but slipped to a 2-0 defeat in Oxford earlier this season.

Norwich Form

Norwich extended their unbeaten stretch to three with a 1-1 draw at Blackburn last weekend. A remarkable finale saw both sides score in stoppage time, with Ante Crnac's 91st-minute strike cancelled out five minutes later.

While 11th in the division, the Canaries remain in the promotion playoff fight. Norwich sit four adrift of sixth-placed West Brom.

A decent run at Carrow Road has seen Johannes Thorup's side win four and lose just one of their last seven in Norfolk.

Norwich Team News

Head coach Thorup is unable to call on several first-team players this weekend. Amankwah Forson, Gabriel Forsyth, Liam Gibbs, Kenny McLean, Matej Jurasek, and Lewis Dobbin are likely to remain sidelined.

Oxford Form

Oxford continue to tumble down the Championship standings after a fourth defeat in five matches last weekend. Gary Rowett's side fell to a 3-2 home reversal against Frank Lampard's improving Coventry City.

The U's have picked up just one point since a 1-1 draw against Bristol at the start of February, and now sit 18th, seven points above the relegation zone.

Since the promotion to the Championship last summer, Oxford have struggled to find much form on the road. Rowett's side failed to win 16 of 17 away fixtures, with only nine of 38 points collected on their travels this season.

Oxford Team News

Oxford boss Rowett has four injury absentees on Friday. Joe Bennett, Greg Leigh, Ben Nelson and Tom Bradshaw all miss out for the U's.

On-loan Dutch forward Ole Romeny is likely to spearhead the visitor's attack.

Verdict

Norwich will be keen to maintain their promotion hopes against an out-of-form Oxford.

A home win should prove the best bet at Carrow Road.
