QPR vs Aston Villa Match Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips

QPR welcome Aston Villa to Loftus Road for a Championship clash on Saturday. Both teams have struggled this season but the hosts appear to be turning a corner and are expected to secure the win.

Queens Park Rangers

The Hoops are coming off an impressive 3-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday in their previous Championship outing. Goals from Tomer Hemed, Luke Freeman and Nahki Wells ensured the London club earned all three points.

Steve McClaren’s team have endured an inconsistent campaign this season but appear to be on a resurgence having claimed three wins and a draw in their last four matches. They are up to 11th on the table with 20 points, two above the visitors.

Eberechi Eze has been arguably QPR's best player this season having grabbed three goals and one assist from central midfield. The 20-year-old looks set to be handed another start on Saturday with Hemed expected to lead the line following his goal against Sheffield.

Aston Villa

The Villans suffered a 2-0 defeat away at Norwich City in their previous fixture last Tuesday. They took an early first half lead through James Chester but were pegged back by two strikes from the hosts after the break.

It was the first defeat for new manager Dean Smith, who had begun his tenure in charge with a 1-0 victory over Swansea City. They are still in the bottom half of the table and currently sit 16th with 18 points and can go above the hosts with a win on Saturday.

Jonathan Kodjia and Tammy Abraham should continue in attack with both men combining for eight goals already this season. Their problems could however lie in the defence as Chester and Axel Tuanzebe have looked shaky in recent matches.

QPR and Aston Villa have faced each other 44 times in the past with the home team just edging the head-to-head by 18 wins to 16. Villa have claimed the upper hand in recent meetings having emerged victorious in three of the last six fixtures.

Both teams secured away wins in their two fixtures last season with the visitors claiming a 2-1 victory at Loftus Road while Rangers triumphed 3-1 At Villa Park.

AS always, Eze will be the one to watch for QPR with his vision and creativity. The 20-year-old should win his midfield battle with Glenn Whelan while Hemed's physical presence in attack should cause problems for Tuanzebe and Chester.

Villa also have a lot of quality going forward with Kodjia and Abraham partnering in attack. Both men have impressed in recent weeks but are unlikely to get the better of Joel Lynch and Toni Leistner who have helped QPR to three clean sheets in the last four matches.
