Championship leaders Reading bid to avoid a third straight defeat when they host Stoke City at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday. In a bad week, the Royals have seen a six-point lead at the top halved, but can they bounce back against the Potters?

Reading Form

Prior to last Friday night, Reading held a six-point leader at the top of the Championship. Veljko Paunovic's side had won seven games and drawn one, dropping just two points all season.

But back-to-back defeats to Coventry last weekend and at home to Preston in midweek have left the Royals with question marks hanging over their promotion credentials. So much so, they aren't favourites when Stoke visit.

Reading saw a three-game winning run end when they lost 3-2 to Coventry at St Andrew's. They then dominated possession and chances against Preston but were beaten 3-0 at home on Wednesday with the visitors also missing a penalty.

Reading Team News

Captain and centre-back Liam Moore missed the defeat to Preston, but is expected to be fit to return to the side. Midfielder Ovie Ejaria and forward Yakou Meite are also expected to be fit to face Stoke.

Reading look set to still be without defender Tom Holmes and midfielders Felipe Araruna and John Swift.

Stoke Form

Mid-table Stoke suffered heartache on Wednesday when conceding three minutes into injury-time to lose 3-2 at Watford. It was a second successive away defeat for Michael O'Neill's side.

Steven Fletcher had put Stoke in front after just two minutes at Vicarage Road. Watford led thanks to a Tom Cleverley goal and a Joao Pedro penalty, before Stoke levelled with nine minutes remaining. But Nick Powell's strike counted for nothing as Ismaila Saar popped up late with a winner.

Stoke lost on the road when going down 2-0 at Swansea in the last midweek programme, but bounced back with a 1-0 home win over Rotherham on Saturday. James McClean got the only goal of the game.

Stoke Team News

Stoke still have a long-list of absentees. Goalkeeper Adam Davies, defenders Ryan Shawcross and James Chester, midfielders Sam Clucas, Joe Allen and Thibaud Verlinden are all out.

Reading vs Stoke Head to Head

These two sides have been evenly matched in recent clashes with six of the last seven meetings ending in a draw, including the last four in a row.

The last three at the Madekski Stadium have ended in a share of the points, including a 1-1 stalemate last season. Nick Powell equalised in injury time for Stoke after Lucas Joao had opened the scoring for Reading.

Reading vs Stoke Odds

Stoke come into the game as narrow 2.60 favourites, with Reading out at 2.80 despite suffering only a first home defeat of the season in midweek. The draw looks the value at 3.10 with bet365 given the history between these sides.
