Head to Head

Sunderland have a 66-53 advantage against Sheffield United in 145 meetings with 26 draws. The Blades were 2-1 winners when the sides last met.

Sheffield United Form

Sheffield United have moved to the top of the Championship after winning five of their previous six. The Yorkshire club hold a two-point lead over Burnley in second and Sunderland in third.

The Blades are unbeaten at Bramall Lane this season and have won seven consecutive games at home - all without conceding.

Chris Wilder’s outfit won their seventh game in a row on home turf, comfortably beating Oxford 3-0. Callum O’Hare and Tyrese Campbell gave Sheffield United a 2-0 half time lead and Jesurun Rak-Sakyi struck in the second period.

Sheffield United Injuries

Midfielders Sai Sachdev and Oliver Arblaster are sidelined with injuries.

Attacking duo Kieffer Moore and Rhian Brewster are also unavailable for the Sunderland clash due to injury.

Sunderland Form

Sunderland were top of the Championship following an impressive start to the new campaign. Just three wins from nine has seen the Black Cats drop to third place.

Their last win was a 2-0 home victory over Oxford, which came before five successive draws. Sunderland drew 0-0 with QPR and Preston, 2-2 against Coventry and 1-1 at Millwall.

The drawing streak continued on Tuesday as Regis Le Bris’ side were frustrated in a goalless deadlock with West Brom. The Black Cats had 18-2 shots but rarely threatened with just two on target.

Sunderland Injuries

Midfield trio Jenson Seelt, Ahmed Abdullahi and Salis Abdul Samed are injured and out until December.

Striker Ian Poveda and defender Niall Huggins will also miss out on Friday through injury.

Verdict

Sheffield United are rock solid at home and have brushed opponents aside at Bramall Lane. Sunderland have underperformed against mid-lower table opponents recently and are expected to struggle again on Friday.
