Swansea will host Brentford in the 1st leg of the Championship playoff at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday.  Brentford have been in superb form since the restart and I’m backing them to get an important away victory.

Swansea City Form

Swansea sneaked their way into the playoffs thanks to two victories in their final two matches. Their hopes hung in the balance after losing 1-0 at home to Leeds United which was followed by a 2-2 draw at Nottingham Forest.

A home 1-0 victory over Bristol City on the penultimate weekend gave the Swans hope before they smashed Reading 4-1 away to clinch their spot.

Swansea City News

Right-back Kyle Naughton will miss this match due to suspension. The Swans have  a clean bill of health otherwise.

Brentford Form

Brentford returned to Championship football in flying fashion after the break. They won their first seven matches including a 3-0 home win over Wigan, a 2-1 home victory over Charlton before beating Derby County 3-1 away.

That result was followed with a 1-0 victory at home over Preston North End but their final two results ensured they wouldn’t gain automatic promotion. First Brentford lost 1-0 away at Stoke City and in their last match went down 2-1 at home to Barnsley.

Joshua Dasilva scored an equaliser for Brentford with 20 minutes to play but they allowed Barnsley to score a 90th minute winner.

Brentford News

The only Brentford play missing is 21-year-old forward Marcus Forss but he has been injured since January.

Swansea City vs Brentford Head to Head

Swansea hold an 11-5 advantage over Brentford with six draws in 22 previous matches.

Brentford have won both their encounters this season against Swansea with the last being a 3-1 home win in December 2019.
