Watford vs Derby Predictions
Watford have been grinding out wins and sent a message to their rivals with last Saturday's 6-0 home win over Bristol City. I'm expecting the Hornets to win this one.
There is no doubting Derby are in season-best form, but going to Vicarage Road is the their toughest test under Wayne Rooney.
- Watford have won their last 2 matches (Championship).
- Watford have won 4 of their last 5 home matches (Championship).
- Watford have kept a clean sheet in their last 3 matches (Championship).
- Watford have seen BTTS No in 4 of their last 5 matches (Championship).
- Derby have seen BTTS No in 13 of their last 15 matches (all competitions).
Head to Head
These two sides have met 25 times since 2000 and Derby have a 12-8 advantage over Friday night's hosts. There have also been five draws.
Watford took all three points when the sides met at Pride Park in October in the reverse fixture. Joao Pedro got the only goal in a 1-0 win.
Watford Form
Watford continued their promotion push with a 1-0 win at Preston on Tuesday as Joao Pedro fired the Hornets to victory from the penalty spot.
The win followed a 6-0 demolition of Bristol City at home last weekend. Ken Sema and Ismaila Sarr both got two, and Will Hughes and Philip Zinckernagel also scored.
The Hornets have lost just twice in the Championship since Xisco was appointed as manager, and have been doing their best work at home.
Watford have won four of their last five at Vicarage Road with wins over Norwich, Huddersfield, Barnsley and Bristol City.
Their last five home wins have all come without conceding, while the only blemish at Vicarage Road was a late loss against QPR.
Watford Team News
Watford are likely to be unchanged from the win over Preston.
Goalkeeper Ben Foster, defender Christian Kabasele, midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru and forwards Isaac Success and Troy Deeney are ruled out.
Derby Form
Wayne Rooney has got a good tune out of Derby with five wins in their last six matches moving the Rams up to 17th in the Championship.
The latest victory came courtesy of a 2-1 win over Wycombe on Tuesday.
Uche Ikpeazu put through his own net before equalising with a penalty for Wycombe. Andre Wisdom then grabbed a 93rd minute winner for Derby.
That win followed 1-0 victories over Bournemouth, QPR and Bristol City and a 2-1 success over Middlesbrough.
Derby's only loss in the last six games was a 3-0 defeat at Rotherham.
Derby Team News
Centre-back Matthew Clarke has joined the list of absentees after coming off in the first half against Wycombe.
His replacement George Edmundson will come into the starting line-up with Curtis Davies and Krystian Bielik still sidelined.
Forward Tom Lawrence has been out since mid-December.

Verdict
Derby are in good form, but Watford have been very impressive at home. The Hornets should edge a tight game.
