West Brom vs Leeds Match Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips

Leeds United can strengthen their hold at the top of the Championship standings when they travel to the Hawthorns to face West Bromwich Albion. The visitors have lost just once on their travels this season and are tipped to claim the win on Saturday.

West Bromwich Albion

The Baggies are coming off a disappointing 1-0 defeat away at relegation threatened Hull City in their last Championship outing. They saw plenty of possession but struggled to break down a stubborn Tigers defence.

Darren Moore’s team had made a fine start to the season but appear to have hit a rough patch in recent weeks. They have lost three of their last four matches and have dropped to seventh on table with 25 points, just one behind Nottingham Forest in the final playoff place.

West Brom will be without centre-back Kyle Bartley who is suspended after receiving a red card in the match at Hull. Dwight Gayle and Jay Rodriguez are both expected to start in attack having scored eight goals each this season.

Leeds United

The Whites secured a 2-1 victory away at Wigan Athletic in their previous fixture. They went behind early in the first half but struck back either side of the break through goals from Pablo Hernandez and top scorer Kemar Roofe.

Marcelo Bielsa's men have been the team to beat this season as they are currently top of the standings, level on 30 points with Norwich City in second position. They travel to the Hawthorns in good form having suffered just one defeat in their last six matches.

Mateusz Klich has been one of the standout players for Leeds this season having scored five times from midfield. Kemar Roofe has impressed as well with seven goals to his name from 10 matches so far and can add to his tally on Saturday.

There have been 61 previous matches involving West Bromwich Albion and Leeds United with the visitors edging the head-to-head by 25 wins to 22. The Baggies have however claimed the upper hand in recent meetings with four victories and a draw in the last six fixtures.

West Brom did the double over Leeds last season as they claimed a 3-1 victory at the Hawthorns before securing a 3-2 win in the reverse fixture at Elland Road.

West Brom are the top scorers in the Championship this season with 33 goals thanks to the exploits of Gayle and Rodriguez. However, both men have combined for just one goal in their last four matches and could struggle against the second best defence in the league.

Roofe will be the one to watch for Leeds as the striker has found the net in his last three matches since returning from injury. The striker has also scored seven goals in 10 Championship matches so far.
