West Brom are seeking their third straight EFL Championship victory as they welcome Sheffield Wednesday to the Hawthorns. The Baggies are looking to hold on to top spot and should have too much for Sheffield who are out of sorts at the moment.

West Bromwich Albion Form

West Brom are coming off a 1-0 victory at Hull City last time out in the Championship. Jake Livermore’s effort on 28 minutes proved to be the difference as they held on for the win.

It was the second straight win for the Baggies who triumphed 2-0 at Stoke City prior to the victory at Hull. Slaven Bilic’s men have also won six of their last nine matches and are two points clear at the top of the table.

West Bromwich Albion News

West Brom will be without the trio of Jake Livermore, Nathan Fergusson and Romaine Sawyers who are all serving suspensions. Top scorer Matt Phillips should feature in attack alongside Hal Robson-Kanu while Semi Ajayi and Kyle Bartley are set to start in central defence.

Sheffield Wednesday Form

Sheffield Wednesday were held to a 2-2 home draw by Swansea in their previous fixture in the Championship. They fought back from a goal down to lead in added time thanks to strikes from Fernando Forestieri and Morgan Fox but conceded a dramatic equaliser in the 94th minute.

The result means the Owls are now winless in their last three matches and have dropped to eighth on the table. Garry Monk’s men are also poor on the road having lost two of their last three away matches, including a 2-1 defeat at struggling Blackburn.

Sheffield Wednesday News

Wednesday are set to welcome back defender Julian Borner who missed the draw against Swansea with a slight knock. Midfielder Sam Hutchinson remains doubtful with a calf injury while Steven Fletcher should once again lead the line despite failing to score in his last six matches.

West Brom vs Sheffield Wednesday Head to Head

Sheffield Wednesday have 36 wins and 23 draws while West Brom have 20 victories from 79 previous matches. The Baggies have the upper hand in recent meetings as they are unbeaten in the last six fixtures, claiming three wins in that run.
