Samsunspor are the most pleasant surprise package in the Super Lig this season, sitting in 3rd place with 51 points after 29 rounds and have a high chance to claim one of the European spots.

The Red Lightning had solid results in the first half of March, grabbing a point against Goztepe 2-2 on the road, won 3-2 against last-placed Adana Demirspor at home, then holding Fenerbahce to a goalless draw in Istanbul.

They wrapped up the previous month with a disappointing 2-0 home loss to Kasimpasa, while also getting beaten at Antalyaspor 2-1 last weekend, Zeki Yavru being the sole scorer.

Galatasaray are currently under a lot of pressure after their Super Lig advantage over Fenerbahce melted to just three points in the last two months.

After their slip up against Kasimpasa (3-3) in early March, Okan Buruk’s side bounced back with two straight victories against Alanyaspor 2-1 and Antalyaspor 4-0 but suffered a 2-1 loss to Besiktas in the Istanbul derby to wrap up the month.

Cimbom returned to winning ways last week with a 2-1 win over Fenerbahce in the Turkish Cup quarterfinals, Victor Osimhen scoring two quick goals in the first half, while Bar Alper Yilmaz and Kerem Demirbay were sent off in stoppage time.

Hosts will be Celil Yuksel and Soner Aydogdu who are injured. Latest addition to the list of sidelined players is Marc Bola, Soner Gonul expected to take his place in the starting XI.

As for the reigning Super Lig champions, last season’s top scorer Mauro Icardi is out with a long-term injury, while Przemyslaw Frankowski is serving a red-card suspension he received in the big derby against Besiktas.
