Sivasspor vs Genclerbirligi Predictions & Tips - Sivasspor backed for third win on the spin

Sivasspor have better quality players as proven last season when they qualified for Europe. Since being knocked out of the Europa League they have started to find some rhythm and should be too strong for Genclerbirligi.

Sivasspor lead Genclerbirligi 17-9 with nine draws in 35 previous matches.

Their last encounter ended in a 2-1 home win for Sivasspor in July 2020.

After an incredible season last time out Sivasspor have suffered this season. This has mainly been down to the Europa League commitments but they are now out of Europe and will focus on improving their league position.

Sivasspor ended their Europa League group in third place with two victories in their six matches. Both wins came against the winless Qarabag. They lost their final Europa League match 1-0 at Maccabi Tel Aviv and have been unbeaten in their three matches since.

They returned to Turkish Super Lig action with a 0-0 draw at home to Antalyaspor in a match with very few chances. That was followed by a 1-0 home win over Giresunspor in the Turkish Cup, Olarenwaju Kayode scored the winner in the 90th minute.

In their last match Sivasspor defeated Konyaspor 1-0 away. It was a keenly contested match but Faycal Fajr’s 60th minute goal proved enough to secure all three points.

Centre-back Caner Osmanpasa will miss the match through illness while fellow defender, Samba Camara is injured. Robin Yalcin will in all likelihood fill in as a makeshift centre-back.

There are also injuries to fringe players Serhiy Rybalka and Isaac Cofie. Neither were expected to make the squad though.

Genclerbirligi sit 17th in the Turkish Super Lig table after 12 matches with three wins, three draws and six defeats. They have achieved some impressive results but their inconsistency has plagued them terribly.

At the beginning of December, Genclerbirligi pulled of a shock as they beat top-of-the-table Alanyaspor 2-1 at home in a match filled with drama. Genclerbirligi goalkeeper Kristoffer Nordfeldt saved a last minute penalty to secure the points.

That result was backed up with a 1-0 away win against Erzurumspor before Genclerbirligi were knocked out of the Turkish Cup at home with a 2-0 defaet to Tuzlaspor. 

In their last match Genclerbirligi managed to get a 1-1 draw at home to Ankaragucu with Berat Ozdemir scoring their goal. 

Genclerbirligi have a few injury concerns ahead of this trip to Sivasspor. Two centre-backs in Diego Angelo and Salih Dursun will both miss this match through injury. Arda Kizildag and Halil Pehlivan should start in central defence.

Another centre-back in Zargo Toure is down with COVID-19 along with Rahmetullah Berisbek.

Right-back Mattias Johansson and central midfielder Soner Dikmen are also out injured. Their replacements will be Omurcan Artan and Muran Yildirim.
