Atalanta are the superior side in this match-up and they had an amazing run during the UCL group stage. Club Brugge struggle on the road even in their domestic clashes, so I am backing La Dea not only to win but also to advance.

Atalanta have been in poor form in the last couple of weeks, claiming just one victory in their last five appearances across competitions.

A 5-0 victory against Verona on 8th February has ended their three-game winless run, Mateo Retegui stealing the spotlight by scoring four goals, but La Dea then suffered a 2-1 loss to Club Brugge.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s side was tagged big favorites last weekend against Cagliari in Serie A, but the match in Bergamo ended in a goalless draw. Atalanta had 0.42-0.16 expected goals, 59% possession and 9-3 shots.

They are still 3rd in the Italian top flight with 51 points after 25 rounds, five points behind the leaders Napoli.

Club Brugge Form

Club Brugge have struggled with inconsistency in early February, losing their first appearance of the month to Antwerp 2-1, followed with a 1-1 cup draw against Genk before finally beating OH Leuven 1-0.

The Blue and Blacks gained an early lead in last week’s tie against Atalanta with Ferran Jugla finding the net, but Mario Pasalic equalized just before the break. The Belgian side was awarded a questionable penalty in stoppage time, Gustaf Nilsson on target to secure a 2-1 advantage.

Last weekend, Club Brugge had a disappointing display at St Truiden, barely getting away with a 2-2 draw after being down by two goals after 20 minutes. Hans Vanaken and Christos Tzolis appeared on the scoresheet in the second half.

Atalanta can’t count on injured Sead Kolasinac, Daniel Maldini, Ademola Lookman, Gianluca Scamacca and Giorgio Scalvini.

As for the visitors, Bjorn Meijer is the only name on the injury list.

Atalanta v Club Brugge

Club Brugge are not doing great on the road, currently winless for four games straight. Atalanta’s recent form is far from ideal, but I think they have what it takes to win on Tuesday and advance to the next stage.

Also, Atalanta’s Mateo Retegui is having an excellent campaign and scored four goals against Verona recently. I will back him to find the net against Club Brugge.
