Benfica recently won five straight matches, two of them on the road in the Champions League. They won 2-0 at Juventus in the group stage and 1-0 at Monaco in the play-off first leg.

The Eagles fell behind twice in the second leg but recovered to draw 3-3 and advance to the round of 16. Vangelis Pavlidis made it 2-2 and Orkun Kokçu scored a late equaliser.

Bruno Lage’s side returned to the Primeira Liga with a 3-0 win against Boavista with Andrea Belotti opening the scoring, Pavlidis netting off the bench and Kokçu converting a late penalty.

Benfica beat Braga 1-0 in their previous match which saw them get to the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. Pavlidis continued his fine form with the winning goal, his 18th goal for the Portuguese club this season.

Barcelona Form

Barcelona have won six of their last seven games, starting by winning five straight with one goal conceded. They won 5-0 at Valencia in the Copa del Rey and 4-1 at Sevilla in La Liga.

Hansi Flick’s side saw the run come to an end against Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey semi-final first leg. Down 2-0 after six minutes, they made it 4-2 before conceding two late goals in a thrilling 4-4 draw.

The Catalan club are coming off a 4-0 win against Real Sociedad to maintain top spot in La Liga. They played against 10 men for over 70 minutes, Robert Lewandowski scoring the final goal to make it 34 for Barca this season.

Injuries & Team News

Benfica are missing the injured Alexander Bah, Tiago Gouveia, Manu Silva, Florentino and Angel Di Maria. Renato Sanches is expected to be an option off the bench.

Barcelona’s Marc-André ter Stegen, Andreas Christensen and Marc Bernal are injured. Gavi missed the match against Real Sociedad but is expected to return to the starting side.
