Borussia Dortmund have been struggling in the Bundesliga where they sit 11th on the table.

Nuri Sahin was sacked after four straight defeats, Mike Tullberg taking charge for three games before Niko Kovac was given the job. Kovac's first match in charge was a 2-1 loss against Stuttgart.

The German club got some respite in the Champions League after beating Sporting CP 3-0 in Lisbon. Serhou Guirassy, Pascal Groß and Karim Adeyemi scored in the second half with Julian Brandt registering two assists.

Dortmund suffered a 2-0 defeat at Bochum on Saturday after trailing 2-0 at half-time. They had 69% possession but only two shots on target among 17 attempts.

Sporting CP have won of their last five matches, a 3-1 win against Farense. The Lions drew 1-1 at Porto where they conceded the equaliser in the 93rd minute.

Rui Borges’ side limped into the Champions League play-offs and it showed in the first leg last week. Maxi Araujo hit the bar early on, but they were poor defensively and lost 3-0, conceding all three goals in the second half.

Sporting got back to Primeira Liga action with a 2-2 draw against Arouca. They fell behind twice to an own goal and a penalty, Trincão equalising after Morten Hjulmand had been sent off.

Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha and Ramy Bensebaini are injured.

Sporting left-back Nuno Santos is out for the season after suffering a knee injury. Jeremiah St. Juste, Daniel Bragança, Hidemasa Morita, Geny Catamo and Pedro Gonçalves are out.

Francisco Trincão and Viktor Gyökeres have been left out of the squad.
