Girona vs Feyenoord Preview

Girona have been struggling when it comes to efficiency, bagging just one goal in their last four matches. Feyenoord also failed to find the net in the first UCL round, so I see value in backing under 2.5 goals on Wednesday.

  • Girona have seen under 2.5 goals in 5 of their last 6 matches.
  • Feyenoord have seen under 2.5 goals in 3 of their last 4 matches (Eredivisie).

Head to Head

This is going to be the first head to head match between Girona and Feyenoord.

Girona Form

Girona are nowhere close to form and results they had in La Liga last season, currently sitting in 12th position on the table with nine points from eight matches.

Their winless run extended to five matches straight last weekend in Vigo, the match against Celta ending in a 1-1 draw with Yangel Herrera being the sole scorer for Los Gironistas.

Earlier in September, Michel’s side drawn against Rayo Vallecano 0-0 and suffered three losses to Valencia 2-0, PSG 1-0 and Barcelona 4-1.

Girona Injuries & Team News

There are no reported injuries or suspensions for Girona ahead of this match.

Feyenoord Form

Feyenoord had a bad start to the UEFA Champions League group stages two weeks ago, suffering a convincing 4-0 defeat at home against Bayer Leverkusen with 0.71-1.66 expected goals, 52% possession and 13-11 shots.

The squad from Rotterdam has been underperforming in Eredivisie as well, claiming just 10 points from six games and sit in 6th position on the table.

Their last weekend’s clash against NEC Nijmegen ended in a disappointing 1-1 draw, Jordan Lotomba bagging a late equalizer. Round before that, Feyenoord claimed a 2-0 home win against NAC Breda 2-0.

Feyenoord Injuries & Team News

Calvin Stengs, Bart Nieuwkoop and Santiago Gimenez are confirmed to miss this match due to injuries.

Quillindschy Hartman recovered from a knee injury but he is not registered for the UCL group stages.

Verdict

Girona forgot how to score goals this season, finding the net just once in their last four contests. Both sides failed to find the net in the first UCL round, so under 2.5 goals is a value bet in my opinion.
