Monaco Form
Monaco are in the Champions League play-off places after taking 10 points from their opening four matches. The Ligue 1 side lost their following two against Benfica 3-2 and Arsnal 3-0.
Adi Hütter’s side have struggled since the Benfica loss and have won once in their last seven. Monaco are winless in four, losing 1-0 to PSG and drawing 2-2 with Nantes and 1-1 against Reims.
The Red and Whites suffered a shock defeat the Ligue 1’s bottom side Montpellier on Friday. Thilo Kehrer struck midway through the first half before Monaco allowed 2.61 XG and conceded two in the second period.
Monaco Injuries & Team News
Forwards Folarin Balogun, Krépin Diatta and George Ilenikhena are set to miss out due to injury.
Defender Wilfried Singo and midfielder Denis Zakaria are also injured and won’t feature.
Breel Embolo has three assists and five goals in all competitions. He is likely to start in attack on Tuesday.
Aston Villa Form
Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are fifth in the Champions League table and have won four games of six fixtures. Villa have also defeated Young Boys 3-0 and Leipzig 3-2 away in Europe this season.
The Premier League outfit are unbeaten in five consecutive domestic matches, winning three. They won three in a row to start January after 2-1 victories over Leicester and West Ham and a 1-0 triumph at Everton.
The Villans extended their unbeaten streak with a 2-2 comeback draw at Arsenal. Villa were 2-0 down after 54 minutes but Youri Tielemans and Ollie Watkins replied in the final half an hour.
Aston Villa Injuries & Team News
Forward Donyell Malen is ineligible having featured in the Champions League already this season.
Defensive pair Diego Carlos and Pau Torres are out due to injury.
Midfielders John McGinn and Ross Barkley are also sidelined with injuries.
Verdict
Monaco are unconvincing and Aston Villa have a knack for sealing away wins in the Champions League. Sticking with a Villa win on Tuesday is the best bet here.
