Newcastle odds-on to qualify from Champions League Group of Death

The Magpies are in the group stage of Europe’s premier club competition for the first time since the 2002/03 season, and have they were handed a tough assignment in Thursday’s draw.

Eddie Howe’s side have been paired with Paris St Germain, AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund in round one.

However, the bookmakers believe Newcastle have every chance of making it into the knockout stage, with Coral going 4/7 about them qualifying for the next round.

Those odds make them the second favourites with two teams set to advance, with only PSG at shorter odds of 2/5.

Newcastle are 2/1 to go through as surprise Group F winners, with PSG the favourites at 13/10.

“On their return to the Champions League, Newcastle have been drawn into this year’s ‘Group of Death’,” Coral’s John Hill told FreeTips.com.

“However, we make Eddie Howe’s side odds-on to be one of the two teams to qualify from the group.

Meanwhile, it is Evens with Coral for there to be an English winner of this year’s competition, while it is 5/1 for the final at Wembley to feature two English teams.
