Young Boys vs Villarreal Predictions

Young Boys are enjoying a fantastic season while Villarreal have not made their best start. The Spanish side are not losing many games and should have the quality to take a point in Switzerland.

Head to Head

This will be the first ever match between Young Boys and Villarreal.

Young Boys Form

Young Boys go into the third round of fixtures in the UEFA Champions League placed second in Group F. They have a real chance of progressing but will have to get results at home in games like this.

The Swiss club were the giant killers in week one as they came from behind to defeat Manchester United 2-1 at home. Despite losing 1-0 at Atalanta in their second match, Young Boys still produced a very good performance against the Italians.

Since that defeat Young Boys have beaten Servette 6-0 away and drew 1-1 at home to Luzern in the Swiss League.

Young Boys Injuries & Team News

Young Boys have a few injuries but fortunately it is mostly to fringe players. Fabia Lustenberger, Jean-Pierre Nsame, Esteban Petignat and Joe Monteiro will all miss this home fixture. The Swiss champions can however select the same side that lost 1-0 to Atalanta last time out.

Villarreal Form

Villarreal have not enjoyed the best of starts to their season with just two wins from their opening eight La Liga matches. They are also bottom of Group F in the Champions League with just one point from two matches.

The Yellow Submarine looked to have turned their season around towards the end of September after beating Elche 4-1 at home and drawing 0-0 at Real Madrid in La Liga.

An unfortunate 2-1 defeat followed at Manchester United where Villarreal dominated for long periods. Their failure to convert chances however cost them in the end.

A 2-0 home victory over Real Betis came thereafter but at the weekend Villarreal suffered a 2-1 home loss to Osasuna. Gerard Moreno equalised with 35 minutes to go but they conceded three minutes from the end.

Villarreal Injuries & Team News

Unai Emery has a full squad from which to pick for the first time this season. Central midfielder Francis Coquelin missed the trip to Manchester United but should start here.
