Brann vs St Mirren Predictions

Brann were unfortunate not to claim victory in Scotland, and they should be able to settle the score in Bergen.

A home win with at least two goals scored is my top tip for Thursday's Conference League qualifier.

  • Brann won 14 of their last 18 home matches
  • Brann scored 2+ goals in 12 of their last 13 home victories
  • St Mirren lost 11 of their last 19 away matches
  • St Mirren conceded 3+ goals in their last 4 away defeats

Head to Head

Brann and St Mirren had not met before last week's 1-1 draw in Scotland.

Brann Form

Brann come into Thursday's second leg fully refreshed after a free weekend in the Norwegian Eliteserien. The Pride of Bergen are unbeaten in their last six matches after last week's 1-1 draw in Paisley.

Placed third in the Eliteserien, a strong run of form has seen Brann lose just one of their last 11 matches across all competitions. Eirik Horneland's men are usually tough to beat at Brann Stadion, with the hosts remaining unbeaten in 16 of their last 18 home fixtures.

Previous appearances in the Conference League have seen Brann win two and draw one of three home fixtures.

Brann Team News

Head coach Horneland has no fresh injury issues to deal with ahead of Thursday's return leg in Begen. However, injured trio Svenn Crone, Martin Hellan, and Niklas Jensen Wassberg are again expected to remain sidelined.

St Mirren Form

St.Mirren make the trip to Norway after a disappointing 3-1 defeat against Aberdeen last weekend. Stephen Robinson's side enjoyed an eight-game unbeaten run before Sunday's Premiership loss at Pittodrie.

While in good form this season, the Saints have a poor recent away record. St Mirren lost five and won only one of their nine previous road fixtures.

Competing in continental competition for the first time this century, the Paisley-based side failed to win seven of eight previous away European ties since 1980.

St Mirren Team News

St Mirren boss Robinson has a fully fit squad available for the trip to Norway. Oisin Smyth could earn a recall after his second-half substitute role on Sunday.

Tajudeen Olusanya is a likely starter after bagging three goals in his last four appearances.

Verdict

Brann's greater experience at this level should prove the difference on Thursday.

I'm backing the hosts to claim a place in the playoffs with at least two goals scored.
