Olympiakos advanced to the Conference League finals in style by defeating Aston Villa 6-2 on aggregate. They were victorious in the first leg in England 4-2 and then won 2-0 at home with Ayoub El Kaabi scoring five goals.

Earlier in the playoffs, Olympiakos also eliminated Fenerbahce after a penalty shootout (1-1 on aggregate) and Maccabi Tel Aviv 7-5 on aggregate.

The Red and Whites were not as successful in the Greek Super League, ending the season in a disappointing 3rd position, six points behind the champions PAOK.

Olympiakos barely got away with a 2-2 draw in the last round against archrival Panathinaikos. They were down by two goals after 59 minutes of play, but late goals of Daniel Podence and Stevan Jovetic secured a point.

Fiorentina punched their ticket for the second consecutive Conference League finals by eliminating Club Brugge 4-3 on aggregate. They gained minimal advantage in the first tie in Italy 3-2 and then secured a 1-1 draw in Belgium, Lucas Beltran scoring a late equalizer.

Viola are also in decent form in Serie A, beating Cagliari 3-2 last weekend. Giacomo Bonaventura broke the deadlock, then Cagliari scored two unanswered goals. Fiorentina bagged two goals in the last three minutes through Nicolas Gonzalez and Arthur to secure points.

Earlier this month, they held the reigning champions Napoli to a 2-2 draw and defeated Monza at home 2-1. Vincenzo Italiano’s side is going to end this season’s Serie A in 8th position.
