Eintracht Frankfurt vs FC Vaduz Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips

Eintracht Frankfurt were far too good for Vaduz in the 1st leg of the UEFA Europa League 2nd round qualifiers. Back at home at the Commerzbank-Arena, they are likely to record another convincing victory against the Liechtenstein club.

Eintracht Frankfurt Form & Team News

Eintracht Frankfurt began their season in the Europa League 2nd round of qualifiers where they got past Estonian club Flora 4-2 on aggregate. The Eagles thrashed FC Vaduz 5-0 in the 1st leg away from home in the 3rd round and another one sided game should occur here.

Frankfurt were completely dominant with 68% possession, more shots (20-3) and shots on target (6-0). Filip Kostic scored the first two goals with Dominik Kohr, Gonçalo Paciência and Mijat Gacinovic wrapping it up.

Last season’s Europa League semi-finalists then beat Waldhof Mannheim 5-3 in the German Cup. Daichi Kamada and Filip Kostic restored parity after Frankfurt fell 2-0 behind but Adi Hütter’s side were down 3-2 with 15 minutes remaining. Ante Rebic came to the rescue with a hat-trick in 12 minutes to send the Eagles through.

Hütter is adjusting to life without last season’s top scorers Sébastien Haller and Luka Jovic, sold to West Ham and Real Madrid for a combined €100 million. Rebic stepped up to fill the void in the German Cup  and more will be needed from Gonçalo Paciência and new recruit Dejan Joveljic to fill the void.

Eintracht have made Sebastian Rode, Filip Kostic, Kevin Trapp and Martin Hinteregger permanent signings with Erik Durm, Dominik Kohr and Djibril Sow also joining the club. Sow is the only injury concern but Japanese attacking midfielder Daichi Kamada returned on loan from a season at Sint-Truiden and has a chance to earn a spot in the squad.

Eintracht Frankfurt are very short priced favourites at 1.10 so we turn to the handicap markets. Backing the Eagles in the -2 handicap market is paying 1.72, -3 is at 2.50 and -4 handicap can be backed at 4.00.

FC Vaduz Form & Team News

Liechtenstein minnows FC Vaduz have never reached the Europa League playoffs and it won’t be happening this season. They scraped past Breidablik and MOL Fehérvár in the first two rounds but were match for Eintracht Frankfurt in the 1st leg.

Vaduz were never in the contest despite playing at home, failing to trouble the Frankfurt defence in a 5-0 thrashing. A trip to the Commerzbank-Arena for the 2nd leg is a daunting prospect and all they can do is avoid a complete humiliation.

Midfielder Milan Gajic scored both goals in a recent 2-0 win against FC Schaffhausen in the league, he was also on target in the 2-0 win against MOL Fehérvár in the 2nd leg of the Europa League 2nd round qualifiers. Unfortunately for Vaduz he is injured here alongside Manuel Sutter, Christopher Drazan and Gabriel Lüchinger.

Senegalese forward Mohamed Coulibaly has scored three goals this season but is unlikely to get much joy in Frankfurt. I wouldn’t recommend backing FC Vaduz to win at 21.00 and can’t see any reason to think they can claim a draw at 11.00.

Eintracht Frankfurt vs FC Vaduz Head to Head

The 1st leg meeting at Rheinpark Stadion was the first meeting between these clubs. Eintracht Frankfurt were far too strong for Vaduz, the 5-0 win never in doubt with the Liechtenstein club failing to register a shot on target.

Eintracht Frankfurt vs FC Vaduz Match Up

Frankfurt have a number of players trying to force their way into the starting side. We could see some rotation from Adi Hütter here with Mijat Gacinovic and Gonçalo Paciência set to start.

Whatever line up Hütter goes with, they are going to see plenty of the ball and create a lot of chances. Vaduz are going to be on the back foot for the duration of the match.

Eintracht Frankfurt vs FC Vaduz Key Statistics

  • Eintracht Frankfurt have won their last 6 matches in all competitions.
  • Eintracht Frankfurt have scored 5+ goals in 3 of their last 4 matches (all competitions).
  • FC Vaduz have failed to score in 4 of their last 5 away matches in the UEFA Europa League.
  • FC Vaduz had 32% possesion and created no shots on target in the 1st leg against Eintracht Frankfurt (UEFA Europa League).

This is just a matter of how many goals Eintracht Frankfurt will score. Vaduz created nothing at home in the 1st leg and are in for another thrashing.
