Roma need a draw to progress to the Europa League semi-finals which they can achieve at Stadio Olimpico.

Ajax have a 1-1 record against Roma with one draw. 

They first met in the 2002/03 UEFA Champions League group stage, Ajax winning 2-1 in Amsterdam before a 1-1 draw in Italy.

Roma won 2-1 in Amsterdam last week, overturning a 1-0 half time deficit with Ibanez scoring the winner in the 87th minute.

Roma had been in poor form in Serie A, losing two and drawing one match before taking on Ajax in the Europa League quarter-finals.

Paulo Fonseca’s side pulled off a 2-1 win in Amsterdam. They were 1-0 down at half time, Pau López saving a penalty before Lorenzo Pellegrini equalised and Ibanez scored the winner in the 87th minute.

Roma returned to Serie A with a 1-0 home win against Bologna. Borja Mayoral scored the winner in a match were they had 1.37-2.01 expected goals.

Roma Injuries & Team News

Left back Leonardo Spinazzola is injured and right back Bruno Peres is suspended.

Centre backs Chris Smalling and Marash Kumbulla are injured but Bryan Cristante is available after being suspended in Serie A.

Attacking midfielder Nicolò Zaniolo remains out injured but Henrikh Mkhitaryan came off the bench against Bologna and is an option.

Ajax Form

Ajax were on a 24 match unbeaten run before hosting Roma in the UEFA Europa League quarter-final first leg.

Erik ten Hag’s side went 1-0 up through Davy Klaassen before Dusan Tadic saw his penalty saved in the 53rd minute. Ajax were made to pay, conceding in the 57th and 87th minutes in their first defeat since December.

Ajax returned to the Eredivisie with a 1-0 win at RKC Waalwijk. Tadic assisted Sébastien Haller for the winner in the14th minute in a match they dominated.

André Onana is suspended which could see Maarten Stekelenburg start ahead of Kjell Scherpen.

Noussair Mazraoui is injured and Devyne Rensch is suspended which could see Sean Klaiber start at right back. 

Centre back Daley Blind is injured and Perr Schuurs is doubtful. Striker Sébastien Haller is ineligible.
