Albania vs Spain Preview

Spain left an amazing, maybe the best impression after two rounds in Euro 2024 and I don’t see them stopping against Albania. Backing the Red Fury to win to nil is the best bet.

  • Albania have lost their last 8 matches against Spain.
  • Albania have lost 3 of their last 6 matches.
  • Spain have won to nil in 3 of their last 4 matches.

Head to Head

Spain have an 8-0 advantage against Albania in 8 matches.

They last met in March 2023, the game being won 2-1 by Spain.

Albania Form

Albania have kept their Euro 2024 playoff hopes alive by snatching a point of favored Croatia 2-2 in the second round. Qazim Laci drew the first blood in 11th minute, Croatia scoring two unanswered goals in the second half. Klaus Gjasula scored an equalizer in stoppage time.

The Red and Blacks had a dream start in their Euro opening match against Italy last week, with Nedim Bajrami scoring the fastest goal in European Championship history after just 23 seconds of play. However, they couldn't maintain their lead, conceding twice between the 10th and 13th minutes, ultimately losing the match 2-1.

Albania were successful in their June international friendlies, earning two straight victories against Liechtenstein 3-0 and Azerbaijan 3-1, Bajrami contributing with one goal and two assists.

Forwards: Rey Manaj, Jasir Asani, Armando Broja, Taulant Seferi, Mirlind Daku, Arbër Hoxha

Arbnor Muçolli is injured.

Armando Sadiku was not called up. Sokol Cikalleshi retired from the national team in March.

Spain Form

Spain already qualified for the next stage after securing their second Euro 2024 victory on Thursday night against Italy 1-0, Riccardo Calafiori hitting his own net early in second half. It was a well-deserved win with 2.05-0.21 expected goals, 57% possession and 20-4 shots.

The Red Fury made a winning start to Euro 2024 as they outclassed Croatia 3-0 in the opening match at Olympiastadion in Berlin, scoring all three goals in the first half.

The first two goals were scored in the space of four minutes as Alvaro Morata and Fabain Ruiz found the net, while the job was finished by Real Madrid’s Dani Carvajal, scoring his first goal for the national team.

Luis de la Fuente's side was one of the most successful teams in the EURO 2024 qualifiers, topping their group with 21 points (seven wins, one loss) ahead of Scotland, Norway, Georgia and Cyprus, scoring 25 and allowing just five goals.

Spain Squad & Team News

Goalkeepers: Unai Simón, David Raya, Álex Remiro,
Defenders: Jesús Navas, Dani Carvajal, Aymeric Laporte, Nacho, Robin Le Normand, Pau Cubarsí, Marc Cucurella, Álex Grimaldo, Daniel Vivian
Midfielders: Rodri, Fabián Ruiz, Mikel Merino, Marcos Llorente, Pedri, Martín Zubimendi, Álex Baena, Aleix García, Fermín López
Forwards: Álvaro Morata (captain), Ferran Torres, Dani Olmo, Mikel Oyarzabal, Nico Williams, Joselu, Lamine Yamal, Ayoze Pérez

There are no injury concerns for Spain ahead of this match. Rodri is suspended after accumulating two yellow cards in the opening two games.

Álvaro Morata has the most appearances for the national team on this roster (75) and is also the top scorer with 36 goals.

Verdict

Spain were dominant in the opening two clashes against Croatia (3-0) and Italy (1-0). They will want to keep the momentum ahead of the playoffs, so I am predicting a clean win for Luis de la Fuente’s side.
