Brazil vs Argentina Football Betting Tips - South American heavyweights set for a tight contest

Brazil and Argentina will renew rivalry in Saudi Arabia

It is a battle of South American giants as Brazil face Argentina in an international friendly at the King Saud International Stadium in Saudi Arabia. Matches between these two rivals are usually intense affairs and given the attacking quality expected to be on display, I am tipping goals here.

Brazil Form

Brazil were held to a 1-1 draw by Nigeria in their previous international friendly on October. They fought back from a goal down with Casemiro getting the equaliser three minutes into the second half.

The Selecao have not been at their best since winning the Copa America on home soil back in July. Tite’s men have drawn three of their last four friendly matches having been held 2-2 by Colombia and 1-1 by Senegal before facing Nigeria.

The Brazilians are known for their attacking flair but have been hampered by a poor defence which has failed to keep a clean sheet in their last five matches.

Brazil News

Brazil will be without Neymar who remains sidelined with the injury he picked up in the match against Nigeria. Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino has impressed for the national team in recent times and is likely to lead the line while Philippe Coutinho and Gabriel Jesus are also expected to start.

Argentina Form

Argentina claimed a 6-1 victory over Ecuador in their previous international friendly. They had six different goalscorers with Lucas Alario, Lucas Ocampos and Leandro Paredes all on target.

Los Albiceleste are attempting to return to their best form following a disappointing showing at the 2019 Copa America in Brazil. Lionel Scaloni's men remain inconsistent having claimed two wins and two draws from their last four matches.

The Argentines have also been unconvincing at the back having conceded three goals in their last two matches.

Argentina News

Captain Lionel Messi returns to the squad after serving a three-month international ban. The Barcelona forward is likely to start in attack on Friday alongside Lautaro Martinez, who has scored seven goals in his last 10 matches for the national team.

Brazil vs Argentina Head to Head

Brazil have 19 wins and seven draws while Argentina have claimed seven victories from 33 previous matches. Both teams have claimed a win each in their last two friendly fixtures, although the Brazilians triumphed 2-0 during the semi finals of this year’s Copa America.

Brazil vs Argentina Betting Odds

Brazil are slight favourites here at odds of 2.25 while Argentina are valued at 3.00 for a win in Friday. The Brazilians have drawn three of their last four matches and that could be a popular pick at odds of 3.20.

With both teams unconvincing at the back lately there is some value in the goals market. BTTS is priced at 1.83 while over 2.5 goals is paying 2.15. With the Argentines producing over 3.5 goals in their last three matches, a similar outcome is offered at 3.75 at bet365.

Brazil vs Argentina Match Up

Even without the injured Neymar, Brazil have multiple attacking threats that can trouble Argentina. Roberto Firmino, Philippe Coutinho and Gabriel Jesus have been among the goals lately and will be confident getting the better of the Argentine defence.

Argentina will undoubtedly be boosted by the return of Lionel Messi, who heads into the international break in good form with nine goals in his last 10 matches across all competitions. Lautaro Martinez has also impressed for the national team having found the net seven times in his last 10 matches.
