England vs Scotland Predictions

England looked solid against Croatia and they rarely concede at Wembley. Scotland lacked attacking quality in their opening match and they concede a lot of goals.

I am backing the Three Lions to cover a -1 handicap and win to nil.

  • England have won to nil in 7 their last 9 matches (all competitions)
  • England have won 7 of their last 9 matches against Scotland (all competitions)
  • England have covered a -1 handicap in 5 of their last 8 matches against Scotland (all competitions)
  • England have scored 2+ goals in their last 4 matches against Scotland (all competitions)
  • Scotland have conceded 2+ goals in 2 of their last 3 matches (all competitions)

Head-to-Head

England have a 48-41 advantage against Scotland in 114 with 25 draws.

England defeated Scotland 2-0 in the last meeting between the sides at the Euros.

England Form

England produced a solid performance in their opening Group D match, comfortably defeating Croatia 1-0. The result extended the Three Lions’ winning streak to seven consecutive matches in all competitions.

Gareth Southgate’s side started on the front foot and Phil Foden hit the post early on. England remained patient and created better chances with Raheem Sterling scoring the winner on 57 minutes.

The Three Lions were difficult to break down and finished the match with 1.47 to 0.53 expected goals.

England have been hard to beat at home, winning 16 of their last 17. Southgate's side have also kept 12 clean sheets during this run.

Goalkeeper Dean Henderson suffered a hip injury in training and has withdrawn from the squad. Aaron Ramsdale has been called up in his place.

Harry Maguire has declared himself available but Southgate could stick with Tyrone Mings and John Stones at centre back.

Kieran Trippier played at left-back against Croatia but Southgate could consider Ben Chilwell or Luke Shaw.

Jadon Sancho wasn't in the matchday squad against Croatia and will hope to be on the bench.

Scotland Form

Scotland fell to a 2-0 defeat against the Czech Republic in their opening Euro 2020 match.

The Tartan Army were on top for large spells and had 58% possession and 19 shots. Lyndon Dykes and Andy Robertson both went close in the first half.

Scotland conceded before halftime and responded positively in the second period as Jack Hendry hit the crossbar. They conceded a second and struggled to find a way back into the match, despite several good chances and 2.29 expected goals.

It was the first match in five where Scotland failed to score. Steve Clarke's side have won just twice in their last eight matches, defeating Luxembourg 1-0 and the Faroe Islands 4-0.
