Greece are drawn into a rough group with France and Netherlands, so they don’t have room for mistakes against the underdogs. They are looking inspired under Gustavo Poyet and I am backing them to win both halves against Gibraltar.

This is going to be the third head to head encounter between Gibraltar and Greece.

Greece have won both matches so far 4-0 in 2017 and 4-1 in 2016.

Gibraltar are labelled as the biggest underdog in Group B, being priced at astronomical odds to make it to EURO 2024.

They were victorious in the last two matches, friendly duels against Liechtenstein (2-0) and Andorra (1-0) in November 2022.

The Team 54 had a very poor campaign in the recently ended UEFA Nations League C, being relegated to the lowest rank after winning just one point in six matches. Gibraltar held Bulgaria to a 1-1 draw at home in June 2022 but lost every other game.

Greece qualified for the European championship four times in the past. The last appearance was in 2012, while the most memorable one was in 2004 when they won the tournament.

Uruguayan coach and former player Gustavo Poyet took over the Greek national team in February 2022 and achieved good results.

Greece topped League C/Group 2 in the UEFA Nations League with five wins and one loss, scoring ten and conceding only two goals.

Their series of friendly matches in November 2022 included a 2-2 draw against Malta and a 1-2 loss to Hungary.

Greece have outplayed Gibraltar twice in the past and scored eight goals total. Visitors need a strong start and encouragement to battle against France and Holland in the group.
