Iceland vs France Betting Tips

France are backed to have the edge when they travel to Laugardalsvöllur for a Euro 2020 qualifying fixture against Iceland. The French have won their last three matches, scoring 11 and conceding just one and are backed in the handicap market.

Iceland Form & Team News

Iceland are coming off a 4-2 defeat against Albania in their previous qualifying fixture. They fought back from behind twice to level matters through Gylfi Sigurdsson and Kolbeinn Sigthorsson but conceded two goals late in the second half.

The result leaves Erik Hamren's team third in the group, three points off the leaders. They were beaten 4-0 by France in the reverse fixture back in March and are not favoured to win on Friday at odds of 10.00 while a draw is valued at 4.20.

Alfred Finnbogasson makes a return to the squad having missed the defeat to Albania. The Augsburg striker could feature in attack alongside Kolbeinn Sigthorsson, who was on target last time out while Gylfi Sigurdsson is likely to retain his place in midfield.

France Form & Team News

The French were rampant in their previous qualifying outing as they claimed a 3-0 victory at home against Andorra. Kingsley Coman opened the scoring early in the contest while Clement Lenglet and Wissam Ben Yedder added further goals after the break.

The French have been excellent lately, winning their last three matches, scoring 11 goals and conceding just one. Didier Deschamps’ men are priced to win on Friday at 1.50 but having put four past Iceland in the reverse fixture, I have gone for a -1 handicap at 2.10.

Paul Pogba is ruled out with injury while Kylian Mbappe is also doubtful after suffering a relapse of his thigh problem. Kingsley Coman's fine performance last time out could earn him a start in attack alongside Antoine Griezmann, who has five goals in his last 10 matches for France.

Iceland vs France Head to Head

France have never lost to Iceland, claiming 10 wins and four draws from 14 previous matches. The French claimed a 4-0 victory in the reverse fixture back in March with Antoine Griezmann getting one of the goals.

Iceland vs France Betting Odds

At odds of 10.00, Iceland are considered outsiders at home while France are backed at 1.50 to win with a draw paying 4.20. A win to nil is offered at 2.05 on bet365 while a -2 handicap is set at odds of 2.10.

Antoine Griezmann is backed at 2.00 to score anytime while Olivier Giroud and Wissam Ben Yedder are both valued at 2.30 in the same market.

Iceland vs France Match Up

Iceland have been shaky at the back as they let in four goals last time out against Albania. They are likely to struggle against the exciting French attack while at the other end of the pitch, the duo of Kolbeinn Sigthorsson and Alfred Finnbogasson could be starved of service.

As always, Antoine Griezmann will be the man tasked with providing the spark for France having scored five goals in his last 10 international appearances. He also has two goals in his last three matches against Iceland and alongside, Kingsley Coman and Olivier Giroud, should cause the hosts plenty of problems.
