Wales are through to the last-16 of Euro 2020 despite a 1-0 defeat to Italy in their final group game.

Robert Page’s side put themselves in a great position to advance when they followed up a 1-1 draw against Switzerland with a 2-0 win over Turkey.

But they were made to work for that last-16 spot by the Italians.

Wales were on the backfoot for almost the entirety of the game and fell behind to a Matteo Pessina strike six minutes before half-time.

Wales’ job got even harder when Ethan Ampadu was sent off for a lunging challenge on Federico Bernardeschi.

They battled on though and the 1-0 defeat was enough to see Wales cling on to second place in the group, securing that last-16 berth.

Wales know that they will play in Amsterdam on Saturday but their opponents are not yet confirmed – it will be either Finland, Denmark, Russia or Belgium.

Italy will face either Ukraine or Austria at Wembley that same day.
