North Macedonia vs Malta Predictions

North Macedonia ended their Nations League campaign in disappointing fashion, but I'm backing they get Euro 2024 qualifying off to a winning start. Malta aren't the best travellers and are tipped for defeat.

  • North Macedonia have won 2 of their last 4 competitive home matches.
  • North Macedonia have won 3 of their 4 previous matches against Malta.
  • Malta have lost 5 of their last 7 away matches.

Head to Head

North Macedonia hold a 3-0 head to head record over Malta. The sides drew 1-1 when they last met in a friendly in 2010.

North Macedonia Form

North Macedonia's UEFA Nations League ended with back-to-back defeats to Georgia 2-0 and Bulgaria 1-0 in September last year.

It meant they finished in third spot in League C Group 4 with seven points from six matches.

Since then, having also missed out on a place at the World Cup, Blagoja Milevski's side have played three friendlies.

They lost 1-0 to Saudi Arabia in Ocober and drew 1-1 with Finland and lost 3-1 to Azerbaijan in November.

Malta Form

A 2-1 defeat to Estonia in September saw Malta miss out on promotion from UEFA League Nations League D Group 2.

It meant the Maltese finished six points adrift on their victors having lost both games to Estonian and beaten San Marino twice.

Michele Marcolini's side subsequently beat Israel 2-1 in a friendly in September, drew 2-2 with Greece in November and three days later lost 1-0 to Republic of Ireland.

Verdict

North Macedonia aren't a big price, but they should have too much talent for Malta. In a game lacking much value, take the odds available for a home win.
