Norway U21 travel to Estoril to take on Portugal U21 in a 2021 UEFA U21 Championship qualifier on Friday. Portugal beat Norway 3-2 in the first leg despite playing with 10 men for most of the match, will they be too strong on home soil?

Portugal U21 began their 2021 UEFA U21 Championship qualification campaign with a 4-0 win against Gibraltar. They followed up with a 2-0 win in Belarus before a 4-2 defeat against Netherlands U21.

Goals to Diogo Queirós and Gedson Fernandes got them back to 2-2. Portugal couldn’t hold on in Doetinchem.

Rui Jorge’s side drew 0-0 against Slovenia in a friendly but got back to winning ways in the qualifiers. Portugal U21 then won 3-2 in Norway despite playing with 10 men for over 60 minutes.

They played their first match in nine months in Cyprus in September. Portugal won 4-0 in Cyprus with Diogo Leite bagging a brace before goals to Jota and João Mário.

Norway U21 started their 2021 UEFA U21 Championship qualification campaign with a 2-1 win against Cyprus and 1-1 draw in Belarus. They suffered a heavy 4-0 home defeat against Netherlands.

Leif Gunnar Smerud’s side recovered with a 2-1 win in Cyprus before a 3-2 home defeat to Portugal. Portugal were 2-0 up in the 29th minute when they were reduced to 10 men, but scored again and held on after two late goals to the hosts.

Norway U21 continued the qualifiers in September, a 6-0 home win against Gibraltar U21 followed by a 2-0 defeat against Netherlands U21 in Almere.
