Ukraine vs Austria Predictions

Ukraine and Austria are expected to produce BTTS in Bucharest. With both nations content with a draw, that could be the way this one plays out.

  • Ukraine are undefeated in 7 of their last 8 matches (all competitions).
  • Ukraine have seen BTTS in 6 of their last 8 matches (all competitions).
  • Ukraine have drawn 4 of their last 8 matches (all competitions).
  • Austria are undefeated in 10 of their last 13 matches (all competitions).

Head to Head

Ukraine have a 1-1 record against Austria, both friendless that were played in 2011 and 2012.

Ukraine Form

Ukraine went undefeated in their first six games in 2021. They drew all three of their World Cup qualifiers with two wins and a draw in three friendlies.

Andriy Shevchenko’s side suffered a 3-2 defeat to Netherlands in their opening match at Euro 2020. They were 2-0 down when goals to Andriy Yarmolenko and Roman Yaremchuk made it 2-2, but they conceded again in the 85th minute.

Ukraine bounced back with a 2-1 win against North Macedonia. Once again it was Yarmolenko and Yaremchuk on target, this time establishing a 2-0 lead before holding on after Ruslan Malinovskiy saw his penalty saved.

Ukraine Squad & Team News

Goalkeepers: Heorhiy Bushchan, Andriy Pyatov (Captain), Anatoliy Trubin
Defenders: Eduard Sobol, Serhiy Kryvtsov, Illya Zabarnyi, Vitaliy Mykolenko, Oleksandr Karavayev, Mykola Matviyenko, Oleksandr Tymchyk, Denys Popov
Midfielders: Heorhiy Sudakov, Serhiy Sydorchuk, Taras Stepanenko, Andriy Yarmolenko, Ruslan Malinovskyi, Mykola Shaparenko, Marlos, Yevhenii Makarenko, Viktor Tsyhankov, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Roman Bezus, Oleksandr Zubkov
Forwards: Roman Yaremchuk, Artem Besyedin, Artem Dovbyk

Winger Oleksandr Zubkov was subbed off 13 minutes into the game against Netherlands and remains doubtful.

Viktor Tsygankov played 20 minutes off the bench against North Macedonia and is likely to come off the bench again.

Ukraine have plenty of talent including Oleksandr Zinchenko and Ruslan Malinovskyi.

Andriy Yarmolenko is a key player after scoring 42 goals in 96 internationals. Roman Yaremchuk has scored 10 goals in 26 internationals.

Austria Form

Austria had a poor preparation for Euro 2020. They lost 4-0 at home to Denmark in their final World Cup qualifier.

Franco Foda’s side failed to win in two friendlies to prepare for Euro 2020. The Boys lost 1-0 against England followed by a 0-0 draw against Slovakia.

Austria started 2020 with a 3-1 win against North Macedonia. Stefan Lainer, Michael Gregoritsch and Marko Arnautovic scored in Bucharest.

Austria’s last match was a 2-0 defeat against Netherlands. They struggles to create clear cut chances in Amsterdam.

Austria Squad & Team News

Goalkeepers: Alexander Schlager, Pavao Pervan, Daniel Bachmann
Defenders: Andreas Ulmer, Aleksandar Dragović, Martin Hinteregger, Stefan Posch, David Alaba, Philipp Lienhart, Christopher Trimmel, Stefan Lainer, Marco Friedl

Forwards: Marko Arnautović, Marcel Sabitzer, Michael Gregoritsch, Karim Onisiwo, Saša Kalajdžić

Marko Arnautovic is available after being handed a one-game ban by UEFA for insulting North Macedonia’s Ezgjan Alioski.

Midfielder Florian Grillitsch is a chance to start while Sasa Kalajdzic should get a start up front ahead of Christoph Baumgartner.
