Wales rescued a point from their opening match of Euro 2020 against Switzerland.

The Swiss were the better side for much of the contest but wasted several opportunities before Breel Embolo finally broke the deadlock.

Embolo, who impressed throughout, rose highest to head home a Xherdan Shaqiri corner four minutes into the second half.

The Swiss had chances to double their lead and put the game to bed, but they failed to take them and Wales delivered the punishment.

In a move straight off the training ground, Wales worked a short corner routine to Joe Morrell and he crossed for Kieffer Moore to head home the equaliser.

Switzerland almost snatched the points late on though, but Mario Gravanovic had a ‘goal’ correctly ruled out for offside before Danny Ward tipped over an Embolo header.

Wales are back in action on Wednesday evening when they take on Turkey, while next up for Switzerland is a daunting task in the form of group favourites Italy.
