Denmark U21 Form

Denmark finished top of Group I in the qualifiers, registering five wins alongside two draws and a defeat. They conceded eight goals, half of those coming in a 4-2 loss in Iceland.

Steffen Hojer’s side began the European U21 Championship with a come from behind 2-1 win against Ukraine. Trailing deep into the second half, William Boving equalised in the 81st minute and substitute William Osula netted the winner four minutes later.

Osula was rewarded with a start against the Netherlands and took advantage with two goals. Once again the Danes came from behind after conceding an early own goal, securing a 2-1 victory.

Denmark ended the group stage with a 2-2 draw against Finland. Conrad Harder started and scored the opening two goals but they failed to hang on, it mattered little with top spot in Group D assured.

Denmark U21 Squad

France U21 Form

France scraped through in the qualifiers, finishing second in Group G, one point behind Slovenia and one point above Austria. It was enough to qualify directly and avoid the play-offs.

Gerald Baticle’s side drew 0-0 against Portugal in their opening match at the U21 Euros. They had a poor start, improving in the second half but were unable to break through.

Les Bleuets took the lead against Georgia thanks to Mathys Tel’s first half penalty. They were 2-1 down late on, Johann Lepenant equalising in the 89th minute and Thierno Barry making it 3-2 in the 12th minute of added time.

Baticle made plenty of changes in the final group game against Poland. Nathan Zézé opened the scoring and Djaoui Cissé scored twice before half-time, Matthis Abline coming off the bench and scoring late to secure a 4-1 victory.

France U21 Squad

Goalkeepers: Guillaume Restes, Obed Nkambadio, Robin Risser

Verdict
