Austria can maintain top spot in UEFA Nations League B Group 1 with victory over Northern Ireland at Ernst Happel Stadion in Vienna on Sunday. Northern Ireland will be hurting from the Euro 2020 loss in midweek, but can they bounce back?

Austria Form

Austria got off to a winning start in the UEFA Nations League with a 2-1 victory in Norway. Goals from Michael Gregoritsch and Marcel Sabitzer established a 2-0 lead and they hung on for a well deserved win.

Christoph Baumgartner and Karim Onisiwo goals were not enough to avoid slipping to a 3-2 defeat at home to Romania. But they bounced back with a 1-0 win over Northern Ireland with Gregoritsch getting the only goal of the game.

That become three wins from four group games as Alessandro Schöpf's strike earned a 1-0 win over Romania in the last round of UEFA Nations League games.

Austria warmed up for the final two matches with a 3-0 friendly win over Luxembourg on Wednesday. All three goals came after the 61st minute through Gernot Trauner, Adrian Grbić and Philipp Wiesinger on his debut.

Juraj Kucka's first-half goal for Slovakia was cancelled out when Milan Skriniar put through his own net with two minutes remaining. But Slovakia's Michal Duris won the game with a winner in the 110th minute.

Ian Baraclough's side have won just one of their last 11 internationals, including going winless in the four UEFA Nations League so far in this campaign.

They started with a 1-1 draw with Romania with Gavin Whyte equalising with four minutes remaining. But Northern Ireland have lost 5-1 at home to Norway, 1-0 at home to Austria and 1-0 away at Norway.

A positive result is needed if Northern Ireland are to give themselves a chance of avoid relegation.
