Hungary had a disappointing campaign in UEFA Nations League A last year, finishing 3rd in Group 3 with six points from six matches, ending behind Germany and the Netherlands but ahead of Bosnia & Herzegovina, managing just four goals.

Their only victory came in mid-October with a 2-0 win over Bosnia & Herzegovina in Zenica, where Dominik Szoboszlai scored both goals and was named man of the match.

Hungary then suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat to the Netherlands before closing their campaign with a 1-1 home draw against Germany. Szoboszlai found the net again in stoppage time.

Marco Rossi’s side had 0.94-0.70 expected goals, 37% possession and 15-10 shots in last week’s clash against Turkey in Istanbul which they lost 3-1, Andras Schafer being their sole scorer.

Turkey competed in UEFA Nations League B last season, finishing 2nd in Group 4 with 11 points, behind Wales, ahead of Iceland and Montenegro.

They had a great run and claimed three straight wins from September to mid-October, defeating Iceland 3-1, Montenegro 1-0, and Iceland again 4-2, then held to a goalless draw at home by Wales.

In their promotion deciding match, Turkey lost 3-1 to Montenegro in Podgorica. Kenan Yildiz equalized in the first half, but they conceded twice more. The Crescent Stars had 1.63-0.87 expected goals, 71% possession, and a 21-10 shot advantage in that clash.

Vincenzo Montella’s side gained a 3-1 advantage in last week’s first leg against Hungary in the UNL playoffs, Orkuk Kokcu, Kerem Akturtoglu and Irfan Kahveci appearing on the scoresheet.

Krizstofer Horvath is the only injury concern for Marco Rossi, while Adam Nagy and Martin Adam were not called up. Atilla Fiola has the most appearances for the national team (63) on this roster.
