Italy host Bosnia and Herzegovina in the UEFA Nations League on Friday. Italy won both matches against Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Euro qualifiers in 2019, they should be making it three straight in Florence.

Italy Form


Italy qualified for the European Championship in style. Gli Azzurri finished top of Group J, 12 points ahead of Finland after winning all 10 matches.

Roberto Mancini’s side dominated the group including Finland, Liechtenstein, Greece, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Armenia. Liechtenstein were beaten 6-0 and 5-0, Armenia 3-1 and 9-1.

Greece couldn’t score in 3-0 and 2-0 wins, Finland were beaten 2-0 and 2-1. Bosnia-Herzegovina went close but were taken care of 2-1 and 3-0.

Italy’s final match was a memorable 9-1 win against Armenia in Palermo. Ciro Immobile (2), Nicolò Zaniolo (2), Nicolò Barella, Alessio Romagnoli, Jorginho, Riccardo Orsolini and Federico Chiesa were all on target in a one sided match.

Juventus full back Mattia De Sciglio and winger Federico Bernardeschi are not in the squad.

Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli and PSG midfielder Marco Verratti are notable absentees alongside new Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali.

Bosnia and Herzegovina Form


Bosnia and Herzegovina failed to qualify for the European Championship, finishing fourth in Group J, five points behind Finland in second spot. Robert Prosinecki’s side won four and lost five of their 10 matches.

The Dragons lost twice against Italy and once against Finland (2-0), Armenia (4-2) and Greece (2-1). Bosnia and Herzegovina beat Liechtenstein 3-0 in their final match with Eldar Ćivić opening the scoring and Armin Hodžić bagging a brace. 

Prosinecki was replaced by Dusan Bajevic in December. They will be hoping for better fortunes under the former Olympiacos, PAOK Thessaloniki and AEK Athens boss.

Defender Ervin Zukanović is out and inspirational midfielder Miralem Pjanić has withdrawn after testing positive for COVID-19.
