Italy welcome the Netherlands to the Gewiss Stadium in a crucial UEFA Nations League encounter on Wednesday. The Italians carry superb form into the encounter while the Netherlands have struggled since Ronald Koeman left for Barcelona.

Italy Form

Italy began their 2020 UEFA Nations League campaign with a disappointing 1-1 home draw against Bosnia-Herzegovina. Italy went on to beat the Netherlands 1-0 away before smashing Moldova 6-0 at home in a friendly.

With four points from their opening two UEFA Nations League matches Italy went into their last match against Poland looking to build on their lead in the group. Unfortunately it ended 0-0 in Poland with manager Roberto Mancini extremely critical of the state of the pitch.

Italy are unbeaten in their last 18 international matches.

Italy News

Manager Roberto Mancini made seven changes to his Italy side for the last match but is unlikely to go the same route this time around.

Forward Ciro Immobile surprisingly found himself on the bench against Poland but should come in for this encounter. Centre-back Giorgio Chiellini is another pushing to be recalled.

Given their lack of threat going forward, Mancini may opt to play Stephan El Shaarawy on the wing.

Netherlands come into this UEFA Nation League encounter under some pressure having gone three games without a win.

The Netherlands got their Nations League campaign underway with 1-0 home win over Poland but then faltered 1-0 at home against Italy. Another 1-0 home loss followed as Mexico visited the Orange in a friendly match.

In their last match the Netherlands couldn’t make their chances tell as Bosnia-Herzegovina held them to a 0-0 draw. Manager Frank de Boer is feeling the pressure.

Netherlands News

Memphis Depay will return to the starting line-up after missing the Bosnia-Herzegovina match through injury.

Changes can be expected by Frank de Boer in this encounter. He is desperate to find some creativity with the lack of goals a real concern. Manchester United’s Donny van de Beek didn’t feature against Bosnia but may find himself back in the starting line-up.

Winger Steven Berghuis was very impressive off the bench in the last outing and could have forced his way in ahead of Donell Malen.
