Kazakhstan vs Norway Predictions

Both nations have seen plenty of goals in recent international fixtures and I expect a similar outcome in Almaty.

Over 2.5 goals is my top tip while I also fancy BTTS in Friday's Nations League B, Group 3 encounter.

  • Kazakhstan have seen over 2.5 goals in 8 of their last 9 matches
  • Kazakhstan have seen BTTS & over 2.5 goals in 7 of their last 9 matches
  • Norway have seen over 2.5 goals in 4 of their last 5 matches
  • Norway have seen BTTS in 4 of their last 5 matches
  • Norway have seen over 2.5 goals in 7 of their last 8 away matches

Head to Head

Kazakhstan and Norway will meet for the first time on Friday.

Kazakhstan Form

Kazakhstan return to action looking to avoid a fifth successive defeat after back-to-back friendly losses against Armenia (2-1) and Azerbaijan (3-2) in June. The Hawks lost each of their last four internationals, having also slipped up on the road against Greece (5-0) and Luxembourg (2-1) last March.

Much stronger in home matches, Stanislav Cherchesov's men won seven of their last nine home fixtures, including a 3-2 win against Denmark last year.

Typically involved in high-scoring encounters, 75% of Kazakhstan's last 20 internationals saw at least three goals scored.

Kazakhstan Team News

Goalkeepers: Igor Shatsky, Bekkhan Shayzada, Danil Ustimenko
Defenders: Serhiy Malyi, Aleksandr Marochkin, Yan Vorogovsky, Nuraly Alip, Marat Bystrov, Temirlan Yerlanov, Bagdat Kairov, Yerkin Tapalov, Ruslan Valiullin, Aleksandr Zuyev, Roman Asrankulov, Adilkhan Tanzharikov
Midfielders: Islambek Kuat, Askhat Tagybergen (captain), Abzal Beysebekov, Bakhtiyar Zaynutdinov, Ramazan Orazov, Maksim Samorodov, Islam Chesnokov, Adilet Sadybekov
Forwards: Abat Aymbetov, Elkhan Astanov, Ramazan Karimov

Head coach Cherchesov selected a 26-man squad for Kazakhstan's upcoming Nations League matches against Norway and Slovenia.

Experienced midfielder Bauyrzhan Islamkhan misses out through injury, while Adilkhan Tanzharikov is among three uncapped players included in the selection.

Norway Form

Norway make the long trip to Almaty looking to improve on a poor recent record which has seen them fail to win four of their last five matches. After failing to qualify for Euro 2024, Ståle Solbakken's side only managed to win one of four friendlies played in 2024.

Defensive frailties have proved the Norwegians undoing. The Lions conceded nine goals in their last five internationals, while they failed to keep a clean sheet in 15 of their last 19 fixtures since June 2022.

While Norway have won six of their last 11 internationals, just one of those wins came on their travels against Cyprus last year.

Norway Team News

Goalkeepers: Ørjan Nyland, Egil Selvik, Mathias Dyngeland
Defenders: Julian Ryerson, Leo Skiri Østigård, Marcus Holmgren Pedersen, Andreas Hanche-Olsen, Fredrik André Bjørkan, David Møller Wolfe, Jostein Gundersen, Jesper Daland, Sondre Langås
Midfielders: Martin Ødegaard (captain), Sander Berge, Kristian Thorstvedt, Patrick Berg, Morten Thorsby, Aron Dønnum, Antonio Nusa, Felix Horn Myhre, Sindre Walle Egeli
Forwards: Alexander Sørloth, Erling Haaland, Jørgen Strand Larsen

Head coach Solbakken has a 24-man squad at his disposal this weekend. Premier League duo Erling Haaland and Martin Ødegaard have been included in the selection.

Kristoffer Ajer and Oscar Bobb are both ruled out of contention due to long-term injury issues.

Verdict

A competitive contest should deliver plenty of goalmouth action on Friday.

I'm backing over 2.5 goals scored, with an expectation that both teams can score in Almaty.
