Portugal were poor against Denmark in the Nations League play-off first leg. They were completely outplayed in Copenhagen, losing 1-0 after ending with 2-9 shots on target.

The Seleção went took the lead twice in the second leg but it was 2-2 with time running out, Trincão scored in the 86th minute and scored again in extra time, Gonçalo Ramos wrapping up a 5-2 victory.

Roberto Martinez saw his side fall behind against Germany in the semi-finals. Vitinha and Francisco Conceição came off the bench and made a big impact, Conceição equalising and Cristiano Ronaldo scoring the winning goal in a 2-1 victory.

Spain got past Netherlands in the Nations League play-offs. Nico Williams opened the scoring in the first leg before they fell behind, Mikel Merino scoring in added time to secure a 2-2 draw in Rotterdam.

Luis de la Fuente’s side took the lead twice in the second leg, Mikel Oyarzabal scoring both goals in Valencia as the game ended in another 2-2 draw. Lamine Yamal scored in extra time but Netherlands equalised once more, Spain prevailing 8-7 in the penalty shootout.

La Roja raced to a 4-0 lead against France in the semi-finals thanks to goals from Nico Williams, Mikel Merino, Yamal and Pedri. Yamal scored again to make it 5-1 and they held on to win 5-4 following three late goals to the French side.
