Republic of Ireland are third in Nations League Group B2 and six points behind second-placed England. 

The Boys in Green suffered defeats against England and Greece in their opening two games - both 2-0. Heimir Hallgrímsson’s team eventually got off the mark with a 2-1 comeback win in Finland.

They couldn’t gain further points in the following game and lost 2-0 in Greece. Ireland were outplayed with 8-21 shots and conceded twice after half time without reply.

Sammie Szmodics has two goals in his last three for Ipswich and is expected to start in attack. 

Finland Form 


A pointless Finland side sit bottom of Group B2 after falling to four successive defeats in the 2024/25 Nations League. The Eagle-Owls are also in poor long-term form, drawing once and losing five in six.

The Nordic nation lost 3-0 and 2-0 against Greece and England in their Nations League openers. A difficult October spell followed with a 2-1 home defeat to Ireland.

A 3-1 home loss against England made it four consecutive B2 defeats for Markku Kanerva’s side. Finland were 3-0 down before Arttu Hoskonen netted an 87th-minute consolation goal.
