Serbia vs Switzerland Preview

Serbia have scored just one goal in their last five games, all of those ending under 2.5 goals. Switzerland are also struggling in the Nations League with one goal in two games, so I expect a low-scoring affair in Leskovac.

  • Serbia have seen under 2.5 goals in their last 5 matches.
  • Switzerland have seen under 2.5 goals in 5 of their last 6 matches.

Head to Head

Switzerland have a 2-0 advantage against Serbia in 2 matches.

They last met in December 2022, the game being won by Switzerland 3-2.

Serbia Form

Serbia had a lot of absent players in their first UEFA Nations League match against Spain, but managed to hold the reigning European champions to a goalless draw in Belgrade.

Three days later, the Eagles suffered a well-deserved 2-0 defeat to Denmark in Copenhagen, ending the match with 0.20-0.70 expected goals, 49% possession and 7-10 shots.

Dragan Stojkovic’s side had unsuccessful campaign in Euro 2024 this summer, failing to reach the knockout stage after winning two points in group (lost to England 1-0, draw against Slovenia 1-1 and Denmark 0-0).

Mihailo Ivanovic, Nikola Cumic, Dejan Zukic, Andrija Maksimovic and Aleksandar Cirkovic are set for their debuts.

Vanja Milinkovic-Savic, Milos Veljkovic, Ivan Ilic and Andrija Zivkovic are injured.

Djordje Jovanovic and Aleksa Terzic were not called up.

Dusan Vlahovic withdrew from the team for this match due to personal reasons.

Switzerland Form

Switzerland are sitting at the bottom of their UEFA Nations League A group after losing the first two encounters in September.

They kicked things off with a 2-0 defeat to Denmark in Copenhagen, Nico Elvedi and Granit Xhaka being sent off in that match while having 0.40-1.66 expected goals and 5-17 shots.

The Red Crosses failed to recover a couple of days later in front of the home crowd, losing convincingly to Spain 4-1 with Zeki Amdouni scoring a consolation goal.

Joel Monteiro is set for his debut for the national team.

Yann Sommer, Xherdan Shaqiri and Fabian Schar withdrew from the national team after Euro 2024.

Dan Ndoye is injured.

Verdict

Both sides are struggling offensively, Serbia scoring zero goals in two Nations League games while Switzerland found the net just once. I am expecting a tight tussle in Leskovac, under 2.5 goals being the best bet.
