Sweden must avoid defeat at home to Croatia to stand a chance of avoiding finishing bottom of UEFA Nations League A Group 3. The Swedes have lost all four games and would be relegated to League B if they are beaten Croatia at the Friends Arena in Solna on Saturday.

Sweden Form

Sweden have lost all four games of this UEFA Nations League campaign and stand on the verge of relegation ahead of the penultimate fixture against Croatia.

The Swedes lost 1-0 against France in their opening game, and Janne Andersson's side then lost 2-0 at home to Portugal with Gustav Svensson sent off shortly before half-time.

Sweden lost 2-1 in Croatia in the reverse fixture last month with Marcus Berg equalising only for the hosts to win the game with a late Andrej Kramaric goal. They went down 3-0 at Portugal days later and sit pointless at the foot of the group.

Sweden did beat Russia 2-1 in a friendly in Moscow last month, but warmed up for the clash with Croatia with another defeat. This time they were beaten 2-0 by Denmark in a friendly on Wednesday.

Sweden Team News

Robin Olsen, Emil Krafth, Filip Helander, Victor Lindelof and Ken Sema all missed the friendly defeat to Denmark due to coronavirus protocols, but will be available.

Pontus Jansson is unavailable due to injury.

Croatia Form

Croatia sit three points better off than Sweden after the 2-1 win at home with Nikola Vlasic and Andrej Kramaric getting the goals in that victory in October.

Zlatko Dalic’s side got their UEFA Nations League campaign underway with a 4-1 loss in Portugal. They then lost 4-2 in France despite Dejan Lovren’s early opener and Josip Brekalo’s second half equaliser.

The win over Sweden followed, only for Croatia to then go down 2-1 at home to France. Vlasic cancelled out Antoine Griezmann's opener, but Kylian Mbappe netted the winner for France 11 minutes from time.

Croatia beat Switzerland 2-1 in a friendly in October thanks to goals from Brekalo and Mario Pasalic. Both were also on the scoresheet in a 3-3 draw with Turkey in a friendly on Wednesday with Ante Budimir getting the other goal.

Croatia Team News

Croatia defender Domagoj Vida has been ruled out following a positive coronavirus test. It adds to defensive problems with Dejan Lovren suspended and goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic out injured.

Andrej Kramaric is a big loss after withdrawing from the squad for the Sweden clash and midweek fixture against France. He has been unable to train due to a positive coronavirus test.
