The European Tour heads to Scotland for the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship this week and a former winner stands out among the value bets.

The prestigious pro-am event takes place across the Old Course at St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns from September 30 to October 3.

Victor Perez is the defending champion having won the title in 2019 when the event was last held.

Billy Horschel

The American won the European Tour's flagship event the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth three weeks ago and is the highest ranked playing in the line-up in Scotland.

While his record in Open Championships isn't great, he is a proven winner and certainly has excelled on his forays across the Atlantic to the European Tour this year.

Tapio Pulkkanen

Pulkkanen has been in solid enough form on the European Tour in recent months, finishing 35th in the Scottish Open and 25th in the Cazoo Open.

The Finn followed that with a runners-up finish at the Czech Masters and his last two starts have yielded 27th and 17th placed results at the Italian Open and BMW PGA Championship.

Having finishing fourth in the Alfred Dunhill in 2018, Pulkkanen offers good each-way value this week.
