2020 Charles Schwab Challenge Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

Golf returns on June 11 with the 2020 Charles Schwab Challenge taking place at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. Fifteen of the top 20 players in the world are set to tee off in what should be an open an exciting tournament.

It remains unclear how the three-month break and playing with no spectators will affect the players. With no recent form as a guide, this tournament is more wide open than usual.

Let’s take a look at the main contenders and some players flying under the radar.

Rory McIlroy (9.00)

The current world number one was incredibly consistent in 2019, starting the year with five straight top-6 finishes on the PGA Tour. He won the Players Championship to join Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods as the only players to win four majors and 15 PGA Tour titles before the age of 30.

McIlroy then won the RBC Canadian Open and the Tour Championship, becoming the second player to win multiple FedEx Cups. In November McIlroy won the WGC-HSBC Champions tournament in a playoff against Xander Schauffele.

Rory McIlroy

The Northern Irishman regained the world number one ranking from Brooks Koepka in February. McIlroy has finished in the top-5 in his last seven tournaments, becoming the second player to achieve that feat after Tiger Woods.

One thing counting against Rory McIlroy is the layoff and fact he has never played a tournament at the Colonial Country Club.

Jon Rahm (13.00)

Jon Rahm was playing well the break, finishing second, T3, T9 and 10th in five events in 2020. He missed the cut at Colonial last year but was T5 in 2018 and T2 in 2017.

Jordan Spieth (41.00)

Jordan Spieth won at Colonial Country Club in 2016, was T2 in 2017 and T8 in 2019. The Masters Tournament, US Open and Open Championship winner could be a player to watch in Texas.

Justin Rose (46.00)

Justin Rose won this event in 2018 when it was called the Fort Worth Invitational. He shot 260, 20-under par which is the second best winning score at Colonial Country Club.

Rose missed the cut at the Arnold Palmer Invitational but could be another player to have benefited from the layoff.

Kevin Na (56.00)

Kevin Na won the 2019 Charles Schwab Challenge to secure his third career PGA Tour win. In October he won his fourth PGA Tour title at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas.

The South Korean-born American loves playing at Colonial Country Club, shooting a second-round 62 last year, one off the Colonial record he equaled in his final round in 2018 when he finished fourth.

Na has made 10 cuts in 11 Colonial appearances with three scores of 62 or better in a span of six rounds. The Colonial Country Club is a shot maker's course rather than a long-hitting haven and he is great value to continue his strong form in Texas.

Ryan Palmer (67.00)

Ryan Palmer is a member of the Colonial Country Club and should know the course like the back of his hand. He finished fifth in 2012 and 2014, third in 2016 and sixth last year. That’s four top 10 finishes in his last eight tournaments at Fort Worth.

Kevin Kisner (81.00)

Kevin Kisner won this tournament in 2017, was T10 in 2016 and T5 in 2015. Could he regain that form?

Danny Lee (126.00)

Danny Lee has one win on the PGA Tour but has a decent record at Colonial Country Club. He made the cut in his last five tournaments there, finishing 6th in 2017 and a T10 in 2015.

Emiliano Grillo (151.00)

Argentine golfer Emiliano Grillo had made the cut in his last four tournaments at Fort Worth, finishing third in 2018 and T9 in 2019. Could he spring a surprise?
