A competitive field of the world's best golfers and local heroes head to Brisbane to compete in the Australian PGA Championship this weekend. Who will win the title in Queensland come Sunday?

Cameron Smith returns to his homeland to defend his title after a three-stroke victory over Ryo Hisatsune and Jason Scrivner in 2022.

Past Major winners who will tee off on Thursday include Smith, Adam Scott and Geoff Ogilvy.

These are our four selections that could win the championship this weekend.

Min Woo Lee

Min Woo Lee has been in excellent form on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour since June, placing T5 at the US Open, T9 at the Travelers Championship, T15 at the Betfred British Masters, T35 at the Genesis Scottish Open and T41 at the Open Championship.

He was then T7 at the Horizon Irish Open, T14 at the BMW PGA Championship, T64 at the Cazoo Open de France, victory at the SJM Macao Open (Asian Tour), T6 at the ZOZO Championship and T15 at the season-ending DP World Tour Championship.

Other prominent performances achieved by Lee this year include finishing T2 at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, T13 at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, T6 at the Players Championship and T18 at the PGA Championship.

The 25-year-old Australian has an excellent record at the Royal Queensland Golf Club, placing T3 in 2019, T4 in 2022 and T4 in 2022.

Lee has finished inside the top five places in three attempts to win the Australian PGA Championship and has the game to take home the winner's cheque.

Cameron Davis

Cameron Davis has been ultra-consistent on the PGA Tour during the latter half of the year, placing T17 at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, MC at the Scottish Open, T10 at the 3M Open, T7 at the Wyndham Championship, T6 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, 40th at the Tour Championship, 3rd at the Fortinet Championship, T7 at the Shriners Children's Open and T12 at the ZOZO Championship.

Davis produced other top results during the season, including finishing T13 at the CJ Cup, T7 at the Australian PGA Championship, T6 at the Players Championship, T17 at the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, T7 at the RBC Heritage and T4 at the PGA Championship.

The 28-year-old Australian has made four appearances at the Australian PGA Championship, placing T45 in 2016, MC in 2018, T3 in 2019 and T7 in 2022

Davis has yet to win a DP World Tour title; however, he comes into this event in great shape and will be challenging for the trophy in Queensland come Sunday.

Ryo Hisatsune

Ryo Hisatsune has been in tremendous form lately, securing his maiden title at the Cazoo Open de Frace on the DP World Tour and placing T45 at the Japan Open Golf Championship (Japan Tour), T6 at the ZOZO Championship (PGA Tour), T21 at the Qatar Masters, 9th at the Nedbank Golf Challenge and T18 at the DP World Tour Championship last weekend.

Additional highlights achieved by Hisatsune this year include finishing T7 at the International Series in Oman (Asian Tour), T10 at the Hero Indian Open, T3 at the Magical Kenya Open, T16 at the International Series in Vietnam (Asian Tour), T16 at Italian Open, T10 at the Soudal Open, T15 at the Betfred British Masters, T8 at the Made in HimmerLand, T10 at the Barracuda Championship, T14 at the D+D Real Czech Masters, and T13 at the Omega European Masters.

The 21-year-old Japanese golfer placed runner-up at the Australian PGA Championship on debut last year.

Hisatsune has been playing consistently well lately and can go all the way in Brisbane this weekend.

David Micheluzzi

David Micheluzzi struggled with his game on the DP World Tour and PGA Tour between May and July this year but has rediscovered the form he displayed at the start of the year.

Most recently, he placed T17 at the Made in HimmerLand, MC at the Open Championship, T14 at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, T2 at the Queensland PGA Championship (PGA Tour of Australia), and victory at the recent Victorian PGA Championship (PGA Tour of Australia).

Other noteworthy results achieved by Micheluzzi this year include finishing T2 at the TPS Victoria, MC at the TPS Murray River, 2nd at the Vic Open, victory at the TPS Sydney, T21 at the TPS Hunter Valley, T17 at the New Zealand Open, victory at the NSW Open, T4 at the National Tournament and T21 at the Korea Championship (DP World Tour).

The 27-year-old Australian has featured three times at the Australian PGA Championship, with results of MC in 2019, T9 in 2022 and 6th in 2022.

Micheluzzi has been impressive on the PGA Tour of Australia this year and will have a chance of winning his maiden DP World Tour title if he can replicate those performances.

Verdict

Lee has been in fine form throughout the year and can make the frame in Queensland.

Davis has done nothing wrong lately and can win the Australian PGA Championship.

Hisatsune has been holding form since his victory and will fancy his chances to secure the title at the Royal Queensland Golf Club.

Micheluzzi has been a three-time winner in Australia this year and should enter calculations.
