The DP World Tour returns to Germany, where the players will compete for the BMW International Open title.

Billy Horschel, Louis Oosthuizen and Thomas Pieters headline the field in Munich, but Viktor Hovland will not be back to defend his title after victory in 2021.

These are our top four selections that could win this weekend.

Billy Horschel

Billy Horschel is making his first appearance on the DP World Tour this year and comes into the BMW International Open on the back of some excellent results in the PGA Tour in 2022.

The American golfer placed T11 at the Farmers Insurance Open, T6 at the Phoenix Open, T16 at the Honda Classic, T2 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and T9 at the WGC Dell Technologies Match Play.

His next four starts were not great, finishing 43rd at the Masters, T21 at the RBC Heritage, 68th at the PGA Championship and missing the cut at the Charles Schwab Challenge.

The 35-year-old bounced back with the seventh PGA Tour title of his career when he lifted the trophy at the Memorial Tournament, but he could not carry that result into the US Open as he missed the cut.

The world's number 14 ranked golfer is making his debut at this event.

Horschel has had impressive results in 2022 and will fancy his chances to win his second tournament of the year.

Thomas Pieters

Thomas Pieters began his year with victory at the Abu Dhabi Championship, finishing T12 at the Dubai Desert Classic and T24 at the Saudi International.

The Belgian's form then dipped, with results of MC at Genesis Invitational, T32 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, MC at the Players Championship, T26 at the WGC Dell Technologies Match Play, and missing the cut at the Masters.

The 30-year-old returned to form, placing T9 at the Soudal Open, T71 at the PGA Championship, T10 at the Dutch Open and T27 at the recent US Open.

He has featured at the BMW International Open three times, missing the cut in 2015, placing T18 in 2018 and T29 last year.

Pieters has had two top-10 places in his last four starts and can feature prominently at the Golfclub München Eichenried.

Ryan Fox

Ryan Fox began his year with three indifferent results, finishing 61st at the Abu Dhabi Championship, T26 at the Dubai Desert Classic and missing the cut at the Ras al Khaimah Championship.

The New Zealander refound his touch to secure his second DP World Tour title in his career at the Ras al Khaimah Classic.

He continued his excellent form, placing T15 at the ISPS Handa Championship, T9 at the Catalunya Championship, T8 at the Betfred British Masters, T2 at the Soudal Open and T2 at the Dutch Open.

The 35-year-old's foray into the Majors has produced results of 54th finish at the PGA Championship and missing the cut at the US Open last weekend.

He has featured twice at the BMW International Open, finishing T26 in 2017 and T14 last year.

Fox has been ultra-consistent on the DP World Tour with a victory, two runner-up finishes and two top-10 places in his last eight starts and will have a chance to win if he replicates any of his recent displays.

Edoardo Molinari

Edoardo Molinari had a fair start to his year, finishing T26 at Dubai Desert Classic and T27 at the Ras al Khaimah Championship.

His next four starts were poor, finishing T63, MC, 71st and T40.

The 41-year-old Italian bounced back to form, placing T6 at the Catalunya Championship, T36 at the Betfred British Masters, T9 at the Soudal Open, T37 at the Dutch Open, T5 at the Porche European Open and T22 Scandivian Mixed.

His last three starts at this tournament are T16 in 2018, T3 in 2019 and MC in  2021.

Molinari has done little wrong in recent starts with three top-10 places to his credit and offers excellent value in Munich.

Verdict

Horschel has played well this year and has a chance to win again.

Pieters is showing signs he is returning to top form and can challenge for the title this weekend.

Fox is capable of winning again and offers an excellent each-way bet.

Molinari can make his presence felt and is the long-shot value bet in Germany.
