The 50th edition of the Open De France has attracted a competitive field for the latest round of the DP World Tour. Who will lift the trophy in Paris come Sunday?

Guido Migliozzi returns to defend his title after a one-stroke victory over Rasmus Hojgaard in 2022.

Past and present Ryder Cup players who will tee off this Thursday include Robert MacIntyre, Thorbjorn Olesen, Rafa Cabrera-Bello, Edoardo Molinari and Nicolas Colsaerts.

These are our four selections that could win the title this weekend.

Billy Horschel

Billy Horschel has rediscovered his touch lately on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour, placing T13 at the 3M Open, 4th at the Wyndham Championship, T45 at the Horizon Irish Open and T18 at the recent BMW PGA Championship.

Horschel has not had a prolific season by his standards, with his best results being T7 at the CJ Cup, T13 at the Hero World Challenge, T30 at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, T9 at the WGC Dell Technologies Match Play and T11 at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

The American golfer is set to make his debut at the Open De France this weekend.

Horschel has not been at his best but has been playing well since the end of July and should enter calculations in France.

Alexander Bjork

Alexander Bjork has been returning to the form he showed earlier in the season in recent starts on the DP World Tour, finishing T14 at the D+D Real Czech Masters, 2nd at the Omega European Masters, MC at the Horizon Irish Open and T18 at the recent BMW PGA Championship.

Other noteworthy results achieved by Bjork this season include placing T16 at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, T2 at the Ras al Khaimah Championship, T16 at the ISPS Handa Championship in Japan, T14 at the Korea Championship, 4th at the Italian Open, T4 at the Soudal Open, T6 at the Porsche European Open, T9 at the Scandinavian Mixed, T8 at the Betfred British Masters and T4 at the Made in HimmerLand.

The Swede has performed well at Le Golf National, placing T3 in 2017, T8 in 2018 and T20 in 2022.

Bjork has risen from 194th in the world at the start of the season to 72nd due to excellent performances, making him a contender to come out on top in Paris this weekend.

Jordan Smith

Jordan Smith has been threatening to put in a big performance on the DP World Tour since the beginning of June, with results of T6 at the Porsche European Open, T20 at the US Open, T39 at the Betfred British Masters and T35 at the Made in HimmerLand.

He was then T12 at the Genesis Scottish Open, T41 at the Open Championship, T20 at the Omega European Masters, T12 at the Horizon Irish Open before finishing T72 at the recent BMW PGA Championship.

Additional highlights from Smith's season include finishing T20 at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, T17 at the Singapore Classic, T23 at the SDC Championship, T24 at the Jonsson Workwear Open, T6 at the ISPS Handa Championship in Japan, and DS Automobiles Italian Open.

The 30-year-old had a solid first three appearances at the Open De France, finishing T30 in 2017, T21 in 2018, and T54 in 2019 before placing a credible T7 overall in 2022.

Smith has been thereabouts lately and will have a chance of victory if he hits his stride at Le Golf National this weekend.

Connor Syme

Connor Syme has been in excellent touch in his last four tournament starts on the DP World Tour, placing T4 at the ISPS Handa World Invitational, T3 at the European Omeage Masters, T7 at the Horizon Irish Open and T10 at the BMW PGA Championship last weekend.

Before those performances, Syme had been struggling with his game, with his best results being T28 at the Abu Dhabi Championship, T33 at the Thailand Classic, T14 at the SDC Championship, T10 at the Porsche European Open and T14 at the BMW International Open.

The 28-year-old Scotsman has made two appearances at the Open De France, missing the cut in 2018 and 2022.

Syme has been ultra-consistent on the golf course lately and will have a chance to take home the winner's cheque if he can replicate his recent performances.

Verdict

Horschel appears to have turned the corner and can walk away with the honours at the Le Golf National this weekend.

Bjork has done nothing wrong all year except win. Can he finally do it at the Open De France?

Smith has solid form and offers an excellent each-way bet in Paris.

Syme has been producing consistent results lately and will fancy his chances to win his maiden DP World Tour title this weekend.
