2018 Scottish Open Preview & Betting Tips

It's last chance saloon for players still trying to qualify for the Open Championship in Scotland this week as the world's best golfers tee it up in the 2018 Scottish Open.

Held at Gullane Golf Club, the field features current favourite Justin Rose, who will be looking to hold off the charge of a large American contingent.

2018 Scottish Open Top Pick - Justin Rose

Justin Rose hasn't played since teeing off in the 2018 US Open at Shinnecock Hills but he has always played well coming off a break and he's having one of his better seasons to date.

The Englishman finished 10th in the US Open and only three tournaments ago he was winning the Fort Worth Invitational on the PGA Tour. That win was a long time coming in the US for the quality player and it capped off what has already been a great season for Rose.

He has made the cut in all 14 tournaments he has played, which includes eight top-10 finishes and two wins - the other win coming in the WGC HSBC Champions in China. It's that form which sees Rose at the top of our list for the 2018 Scottish Open and the 11.00 on offer is worth getting stuck into.

2018 Scottish Open Top 5 Tip - Russell Knox

It took a playoff for Russell Knox to get past New Zealand #1 Ryan Fox in the Irish Open last week but he got the job done and that form could flow on to this week. Knox, a native Scotsman, plays on the PGA Tour in the US and his season to date has been impressive.

Knox finished 12th in the US Open before finishing second in the Open De France. That form would continue a week later when taking out the Irish Open and he's more than capable of holding his form for three consecutive weeks.

His odds have firmed into 23.00 to win but punters should get around 4.00 for a top-five finish and there's good value in that play.

2018 Scottish Open Top 10 Tip - Thomas Pieters

Thomas Pieters isn't having quite the season many thought he would, with numerous missed cuts and poor performances, but he's not lacking talent and he could regain his confidence ahead of the Open Championship at Carnoustie.

The 26-year-old has a top-five finish at the US Masters to his name and three wins on the European Tour. His most recent win came in 2016 when taking out Made In Denmark and although he hasn't come up trumps since, we think this is the ideal time to start showing some form.

51.00 for the win and punters will likely get a nice price for a top-10 finish.

Best Bet: Justin Rose to win @ 11.00
Top 5 Tip: Russell Knox @ 4.00
Top 10 Tip: Thomas Pieters @ 4.50
