The world's elite players return to the Renaissance Club to compete for the title at the Scottish Open this weekend. Who will emerge victorious in the penultimate tournament before the Open Championship?

Rory McIlroy returns to defend his title after a one-stroke victory over Robert MacIntyre in 2023.

Past and present major winners who will tee off on Thursday include Xander Schauffele, Brian Harman, Wyndham Clark, Hideki Matsuyama, Matt Fitzpatrick, Padraig Harrington, Rory McIlroy, Lucas Glover, Collin Morikawa, Francesco Molinari, Justin Rose, Stewart Cink, Adam Scott, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas and Gary Woodland.

These are our selections that could win the title this weekend.

Collin Morikawa

Collin Morikawa has been in tremendous form on the PGA Tour, placing T3 at the Masters, 9th at the RBC Heritage, T23 at the Zurich Masters of New Orleans, T16 at the Wells Fargo Championship, T4 at the PGA Championship and T4 at the Charles Schwab Challenge.

The American was then 2nd at the Memorial Tournament, T14 at the U.S. Open and T13 at the Travelers Championship in nine starts.

Additional highlights achieved by Morikawa this season include finishing T5 at the Sentry, T14 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, and T19 at the Genesis Invitational.

The world's sixth-ranked golfer has featured twice at the Scottish Open, placing T71 in 2021 before missing the cut in 2022.

Morikawa has been threatening to register another victory and has claims for the title in Scotland this weekend.

Min Woo Lee

Min Woo Lee has been in solid touch on the PGA Tour lately, placing T22 at the Masters, T24 at the CJ CUP Byron Nelson, T26 at the PGA Championship, T24 at the Charles Schwab Challange, T21 at the U.S. Open and 2nd at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.

Other prominent results achieved by Lee this season include victory at the Fortinet Australian PGA Championship (DP World Tour), 3rd at the ISPS Handa Australian Open (DP World Tour, T21 at the American Express and T2 at the Cognizant Classic.

The 25-year-old Australian has made four appearances at the Genesis Scottish Open, placing T30 in 2020, victory in 2021, MC in 2022 and T35 in 2023.

Lee has the form to win at the Renaissance Club for the second time this weekend.

Sungjae Im

Sungjae Im has found more consistency on the PGA Tour since April, placing T12 at the RBC Heritage, victory at the Woori Financial Group Championship (Korean Tour), T4 at the Wells Fargo Championship, MC at the PGA Championship and T9 at the Charles Schwab Challenge.

He was then T8 at the Memorial Tournament, MC at the U.S. Open, T3 at the Travelers Championship and T12 at the John Deere Classic last weekend.

Other noteworthy results achieved by Im at the beginning of the season include finishing T5 at the Senry, T25 at the American Express and T18 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

The Korean golfer has yet to find his stride around the Renaissance Club, missing the cut back-to-back in 2022 and 2023.

Im is showing signs he is ready to win again and can cause an upset victory at the Scottish Open this weekend.

Tom McKibbin

Tom McKibbin has been knocking hard to win a tournament in recent months, placing T7 at the ISPS Handa Championship, T23 at the Volvo China Open, T8 at the European Open, T41 at the U.S. Open, 6th at the KLM Dutch Open and 2nd at the Italian Open.

Other notable performances achieved by McKibbin on the DP World Tour this season include finishing T14 at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, T16 at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship, 4th at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters, T12 at the SDC Championship and T9 at the Jonsson Workwear Open.

The young Englishman placed T35 on debut at the 2023 Genesis Scottish Open.

McKibbin has played well throughout the year and offers excellent value in Scotland.

Verdict

Morikawa can convert his ultra-consistent results into a winning one at the Genesis Scottish Open this weekend.

Lee was in great shape in his previous tournament, and a repeat performance can see him make the frame in Scotland.

Sungjae Im has regained his touch and should enter calculations this weekend.

McKibbin has played excellent golf this season and is the long-shot value bet at the Renaissance Club.
