A competitive field returns to Laguna National for the first leg of the Asian Swing on the DP World Tour, with the second edition of the Singapore Classic on the line. Who will lift the trophy come Sunday?

South African Ockie Strydom is back to defend his title after a one-stroke victory over Sami Valimaki in 2023.

Past winners at the Laguna National Golf Resort Club include legends of the game Sir Nick Faldo, Vijay Singh, Ian Woosnam and Colin Montgomerie.

Additionally, Arjun Atwal became the first Indian winner on the DP World Tour at this course, and Zhang Lian Wei was the first Chinese winner.

These are our four selections that could win the title this weekend.

Shane Lowry

Shane Lowry had a mediocre beginning to his season on the PGA Tour, with results of MC at the American Express, T25 at the Farmers Insurance Open and T60 at the WM Phoenix Open.

He has since found form by placing T4 at the Cognizant Classic, 3rd at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and T19 at the Players Championship last weekend.

Before those results, Lowry was in solid form on the DP World Tour during the back end of last season, finishing T3 at the Horizon Irish Open, T18 at the BMW PGA Championship and T18 at the DP World Tour Championship.

The 2019 Open Champion is debuting at the 2024 Porsche Singapore Classic.

Lowry has found his touch in recent tournaments and can win in Singapore this weekend.

Rasmus Hojgaard

Rasmus Hojgaard had an excellent start to his season on the DP World Tour, placing T11 at the Dubai Invitational, T11 at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, 2nd at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship, T8 at the Bahrain Championship and T6 at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.

He then missed the cut at the Cognizant Classic and finishing T49 at the Puerto Rico Open on the PGA Tour.

Before that, Hojgaard was in great shape towards the end of last year, placing 4th at the Cazoo Open De France, T25 at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, T26 at the Andalucia Masters, T16 at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters, T6 at the Nedbank Golf Challeng and T11 at the DP World Tour Championship.

The 22-year-old Dane will debut at the Porsche Singapore Classic this weekend.

Rasmus Hojgaard plays his best golf on the DP World Tour and will have a chance to emerge as the winner if he can replicate his recent performances at the start of the year.

Tom McKibbin

Tom McKibbin struggled with his game during the two events Down Under at the end of last year, finishing T67 at the Fortinet Australian PGA Championship and T51 at the ISPS Handa Australian Open before returning to form on the DP World Tour.

McKibbin placed T25 at the Dubai Invitational, T14 at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, T16 at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship, 4th at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters, T12 at the SDC Championship and T9 at the Jonsson Workwear Open in his subsequent six starts.

The young Englishman placed T12 at the Singapore Classic on debut last year.

McKibbin has been holding form and will fancy his chances to come out on top at the Laguna National Golf Club this weekend.

Richard Mansell

Richard Mansell has been back to his best in 2024, placing T22 at the Fortinet Australian PGA Championship, T21 at the ISPS Handa Australian Open, T14 at the Dubai Invitational, T25 at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, T9 at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship and T9 at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.

Additional highlights achieved by Mansell last season include finishing T22 at the Thailand Classic, T24 at the ISPS Handa World Invitational, T6 at the Open de Espana and 3rd at the Andalucia Masters.

The 28-year-old placed a credible T6 at the 2023 Singapore Classic on debut.

Mansell has been thereabouts to win a title in recent months and can make the frame come Sunday.

Verdict

Lowry can convert his recent displays into a winning performance at the Laguna National Golf Club this weekend.

Rasmus Hojgaard has the game to secure another DP World Tour trophy.

McKibbin has done nothing wrong and has claims for the title at the Porsche Singapore Classic.

Mansell has found consistency and could surprise the others with a victory this weekend.
